How do I sign out of the App Store?

I’m trying to upgrade my Final Cut Pro and I used to be able to update through Apple>Software Update. But now after signing into the App Store I do the same Apple>Software Update and it pulls up the App Store window. I want to upgrade the old way please.

Note I’m using MacBookPro OSX Mountain Lion.

I don’t believe you can (at least without rolling back to 10.7). In 10.8 all updates, including system updates, pass through the App Store. The old Software Update panel is just there for automated preferences.

If you want to sign out of the App Store go App Store > Store > Sign Out, but when you try to update it will continue to pass the update request to the App Store.
