Help find/setup a keyboard shortcut to "Paste Special > Unformatted Text" in Microsoft Office?

Asked by robmandu (21331points) June 11th, 2008

I came across a way to do this for Mac OS X… but I need something for Windows. Probably just a bit of VB someone’s already cobbled together?

P.S. I did try recording a macro… but I don’t think I got it right. So pointers even would be good.

Found a third-party app that’ll help: PureText.

It’s super simple… when running, it puts a “PT” icon in your systray. And then, to Paste Special > Unformatted Text, you hit Windows-V, instead of Ctrl-V.

I recommend placing the PureText.exe in your Program Files directory, and then placing a shortcut to it in your Startup folder so it’s always available to you. Oh look, it has a checkbox to auto-load itself at startup, neat!

I guess I like this better than a Word-specific macro as it works across apps. Still, I’m open to any other suggestions the Collective might have.
