@amujinx: We need to talk! Soundsystem is my number 1. I even have a Soundsystem tattoo because that album continues to save me…

I noticed that this list does not necessarily accord with my all-time favorite groups, or the music I listen to the most often. But I would choose these as my favorite whole albums:

Soundsystem-311
Abbey Road-Beatles
Aenima-Tool
Nothing Lasts, But Nothing Is Lost-Shpongle
Seed-Afrocelts
Violent Femmes (self titled)
Live At Stern Grove-Tabla Beat Science
Blood Sugar Sex Magick-Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Colour & The Shape-Foo Fighters
In Utero-Nirvana
Dark Side of the Moon-Pink Floyd
Fat of the Land-Prodigy
Steal This Album-System of a Down
2-Orbital
Downward Spiral & Year Zero-Nine Inch Nails
Sailing the Seas of Cheese-Primus
Savage Garden (self-titled) I am unashamed!!

There are few albums that I actually like the whole of. I also think I’m younger than most of the people who have answered, so my answer will probably be very different!

I’d have to say that my favorite album ever would probably be Songs About Jane by Maroon 5. I love the entire album and I’d listen to it a thousand times over. A few more of my favorites are:

Marina and the Diamonds – The Family Jewels
Marina and the Diamonds – Electra Heart
Ellie Goulding- Halcyon

Like I said, I don’t really like many albums in their entirety, but those are a few pretty modern albums that I’m a big fan of!

@Symbeline preach sister!

@amujinx I almost put Man Man on my list but I couldn’t decide if I preferred Rabbit Habits or Six Demon Bag. I had the same problem with Sixteen Horsepower and Jay Munly.

@bookish1 don’t know why I didn’t includes the Violent Femmes. That’s a great album.

@mangeons I’m not surprised given that music buying has changed so much. It used to be you were strong armed to buy the album to get the single you like and you were always guessing if the rest of the album would be worth it. It was always wonderful when it was but there were plenty of times it wasn’t. Without that all or nothing set up it’s so much easier to just grab exactly what you want without ever mucking about with the other songs. It’s nice to have the choice but it does eliminate the experience of coming around to an album that is hard to get the first time around. The truth is those tend to be some of the most meaningful because they challenge you and change how you listen to music.
