Wow, Jim Crow just never dies

What are your thoughts? Of course innocent until proven guilty but what is your initial reaction?

My thoughts are that this article is dated November 28, 2012.

@Espiritus_Corvus F my life, does that negate what’s happened in the story?

(I found this story on FB :( and when I went to the website, it reads todays date on the top, but I’m a former journalist so I should know most stories have the date underneath the by line.)

@_Whitetigress Possibly, but it definitely makes the comparison to the Zimmerman case kludgy.

My impression? The guy was scared and stupid and irresponsible, and hopefully has by now learned that with great power comes great responsibility, and that one cannot abuse either without consequence. Zimmerman at least brain-farted his way into a situation that he had to shoot himself out of – his single shot was, at that point, a legitimate act of self-defense. It sounds like this guy emptied the whole magazine, suggesting that he wasn’t all that collected.

I agree with your answer.

They are not the same to me. In Trayvon’s case they were in a physical fight and Zimmerman’s head was being hit against cement. The guy in your article was just having a shouting match.

Perhaps a better question is why Zimmerman’s trial was made into such a big deal and this guy’s was practically ignored.

@Nullo It’s beacuse the Zimmerman case is more complex. Plus, the police failed to arrest Zimmerman and investigate thoroughly so it was brought to the public.
