Is not giving the Norwegian mass murderer, Anders Breivik , a ps4 grounds to declare for cruel and unusual punishment?

Asked by talljasperman (21916points) February 28th, 2014

Is Anders Breivik stupid or not in reality? He kills 77 children and he says he is bored with his PS2, and he will go on a hunger strike unless his demands are met.

Apparently the police are telling him to stuff it.

Why is this news? He’s a whackadoodle that misses shooting people, both in real life and digitally. Let him rot.

@Seek_Kolinahr I never thought of that… he was playing first person shooters and lost his mind.. He should get treated for internet/gamer addiction. When I was a kid and my dad took away my Nintendo adapter, I was in real pain, video games where an escape from abuse and neglect… eventually I purchased another video game adaptor and stole the tv from the living room and played from midnight until 15 minutes before school I had melted the adapter from playing gauntlet from level 1 to level 387… I skipped school to watch Fox Kids and soap opera’s… TV ruined my life but it was my only escape. Now I know better and that mass murderer needs less tv and some kind of job… like gardening. Or we can let him save for it he make 300 kroners a week he can buy these things himself.

No, just no. He’s an extremist, bigoted shitbag. Nothing more, nothing less.

(Hell, it’s bad when even a shitbag like Varg Vikernes thinks you’re a shitbag.)

@Darth_Algar I went into the capital city of my province and asked for help with my internet addiction and I was turned away. I went back home and deliberately broke my video game hand to get help…and I got it. I’m happy with my life now… I play Angry Birds once a week for 10 minutes and the rest is learning or Fluther or Answerbag.

Don’t tell me you’re going to condemn me as crazy too. I played first person shooters sometimes and I really like Doom and Heretic!

Just kidding. Those who play games and go mad are the ones who are already mad themselves. First person shooters only worsen their condition.

talljasperman's avatar

@Mimishu1995 I stopped my video game abuse with help from the doctors. I skipped school to play video games. all the way to university. They should add video game addiction to the medical encyclopedia of mental illnesses.

Mimishu1995's avatar

@talljasperman Video game addiction seems to have been recognized and treated as a mental illness in many places now. You’re considered an addict if you play to the point that you leave everything behind just for games.

I play games a lot. I don’t know why I still can balance the border between video games world and real world.

That’s swell. Has nothing to do with Brevik and his actions however.

He should get an N64 and only get one game, Superman 64.

FWIW he killed more children than Freddy Krueger…

talljasperman's avatar

@uberbatman Is that the one where you have to fly through rings?

El_Cadejo's avatar

@talljasperman yup, arguably one of the biggest piece of shit games ever made. ET may take that prize though…

talljasperman's avatar

@uberbatman I liked ET you need to use the powers from the symbols. I won the game in a week. Superman 64 , I saw on YouTube. The angry video game nerd.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@talljasperman “I liked ET” I think this may be the first time I have ever seen that sentence written in reference to that game :P

Mimishu1995's avatar

@uberbatman I’ve never played ET. How bad is it?

gorillapaws's avatar

@uberbatman Now THAT would be cruel and unusual punishment.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@Mimishu1995 You should download a ROM sometime. It’s horrible, like really really horrible.

“Warshaw intended the game to be an innovative adaptation of the film, and Atari thought it would achieve high sales figures based on its connection with the film, which was extremely popular throughout the world. Negotiations to secure the rights to make the game ended in late July 1982, giving Warshaw only five and a half weeks[2] to develop the game in time for the 1982 Christmas season. The result is often cited as one of the worst video games released and was one of the biggest commercial failures in video gaming history. The game’s commercial failure and resulting effects on Atari are frequently cited as a contributing factor to the video game industry crash of 1983.”

Wow, this jackass killed a whole bunch of people, and now wants a more games? Fuck this guy. Maybe he should just be happy that he didn’t get the death penalty.

El_Cadejo's avatar

@Symbeline I’ve had a hard time wrapping my mind around this whole thing myself. You need to understand in Norway they take a whole different approach to the jail system than we do in the US. They would rather reform than punish. That said I still have problems coming to grips with this douche nozzle having video games and complaining that it is a humans rights violation that he doesn’t have the latest and greatest.

Berserker's avatar

@uberbatman I’m a big fan of Norway, and I am against the death penalty. I like the idea of reforming people if it means trying to make them understand what they did, if applicable, (some folks are crazy enough that they are not very conscious of their actions, but this dude doesn’t seem to fit that bill I’d say) or at least trying to understand what makes them tick, but I fear this is not always possible.
All that aside my answer centers around that this guy was not fed to the wolves. And he should be happy of it. I try to be humane, but the savage part of me just says, fuck this guy to Hell. But it’s exactly as you said; this guy already has games, and is bitching because they’re not the ones he wants? He’s being mistreated? It’s like, try a Mexican or African prison, you dumb son of a bitch. If I was him, I’d huddle in a corner and be glad for what I do have.

cazzie's avatar

Yes, he can go on a hunger strike if he wants. He won’t last because he is a spoiled child. He will end up eating. We don’t have the death penalty here, but he was given the most harsh sentence they give. He didn’t just get life in jail. We don’t have the thing called ‘parole’ but the normal life sentence can end up as short as 20 years. He got more than life. He got ‘preventive detention’ at the end, which means he will be kept in after the 21 years of his sentence. He is not crazy crazy, but he is an idiot who has deluded himself into thinking, and he still does think, that he was justified is what he did. That is was a political statement and shouldn’t be thought of as a serious crime. He isn’t allowed ingoing or outgoing mail. He can only have 5 minutes of contact with guards per day. He is the only prisoner in his section of high security at Ila but he has been moved from Ila to Skein (back and forth a few times I think) but he ends up back at Ila, in his very secure isolated section. I’m not sure if he is undergoing any form of therapy or seeing a psychiatrist. He needs to be reprogrammed somehow if he is ever to be released. He claims to be strip searched on a daily basis (I highly doubt that). Not much is in the press about him and I’m very happy for that. He needs to just rot quietly away in obscurity.

Berserker's avatar

@cazzie Good insight. Didn’t know he’d be kept after the life sentence. I’d have to say that’s a pretty good idea, if he’s to remain a threat. (but he killed all those kids, threat or not later on, fuck him) I keep saying it, but that dude should just be thankful.

cazzie's avatar

He is so full of himself, he doesn’t realise that he is kept there for his own protection more than Norway’s. No way would this man be safe on our streets. He’d be ripped to shreds or shot through the head and no one would be motivated to prosecute. Not since the occupation by Nazis has Norway ever been so unified in their hatred. He is our generation’s Quisling.

Berserker's avatar

He really must have been spoiled as shit if he can’t see that.

ragingloli's avatar

He should be downgraded to a tamagotchi.

ucme's avatar

I hear he’s woken with Beatles songs playing in his cell, the sick fuck is said to be quite aroused by one song in particular & one guard witnessed him rising with Norwegian Wood.

longgone's avatar

He’s bored, I’d say.
