Ideally eight hours, but I do quite well on six. I can do well on four if I get a one-to-two hour nap in the afternoon. I can do ok with four hours every 20 hours for about a week, then I get a little foggy, forgetful and clumsy.

I need 9 for maximum freshness. 8 will do and sometimes 10. I am finding I need MORE sleep as I get older not less, but the caveat is that I will wake at the same time every morning so have to keep to a decent schedule because I can’t sleep past about 7:15 max. Last night I stayed up til about 11:30–45 woke at 6:45 and I am tired today.

Five to six hours most nights, which is less than I need, which forces me to nap afternoons, which makes it hard for me to sleep nights. Vicious circle.

@Pachy I’m never been a napper, unless I am really sick. I never come out of the grog phase and am pretty much done for the rest of the day. I just go to bed early and force myself to stay up. Ugh!

I’m constantly tired. I need like 9 hours and I feel like shit if I don’t get it. I hate it, too, because I hate wasting time.

Five hours minimum.

I generally consider myself a morning person, but I can’t remember the last time I woke up feeling refreshed.

I wake up at about 6:20 AM every morning, whether I fell asleep at 10pm or 3am. No alarm necessary.

Usually I sleep for 8 hours, 6 at night and 2 at noon (yeah, I’m a night owl). But in an ideal situation, I would extend the time to infinite. Yeah, sleeping is my hobby.

For most of my adult life it was 9 hours. If I slept less, I eventually napped and caught up, or had an extra long sleep one or two nights.

About ten years ago it has been closer to 7.5 or 8 usually, but it depends on my thyroid. Sometimes it’s just 6 if I’m over medicated, or ten if I’m under medicated. Overall though, my need for sleep has declined. I guess that means I’m on my way towards dying.

Let me tell you one thing which you might find funny..i tend to get up early on weekends but might sleep more on working days. Is that the case with anyone else?

Most days about 5 and a half hours and can function quite well all day, thrilled to get six or seven can’t remember the last time I actually got eight full hours.

When I was in my early 20’s, I needed 7 to 8. As I got older (I’m in my late 40’s), I need less now. Sometimes I get 4 and I get through the day without feeling tired. I don’t know how, but I feel ok. I may fall asleep that next night around 10.

OMG..I just woke up a bit ago and slept 10.5 hours last night. I was exhausted. Went to bed at 9 and woke at 7:45.

Between seven to nine. Sometimes I wake after only six hours. I get up and start the day regardless, if I wake and feel like I’m ready to get up. I have taken sugar out of my diet. When I was eating sweets daily, and in the evenings, I was sleeping as long as ten hours and waking up feeling drugged with a horrible headache. When I stopped sugar 100% I had nine days of hell. Now I feel better than I have felt in a long time. I didn’t believe it but I do now…..sugar is addictive and if you quit cold turkey you will have to detox and go through a very unpleasant week or two.

Six hours is good enough for me.
