Do you think my medical condition is turning off guys?

Asked by XiaoMandyX (165points) February 25th, 2017

I like to think I’m pretty cute and fun and outgoing, but I’m having a lot harder time finding guys to date. I wonder if my medical condition is responsible.

I have cold urticaria and so if I get too cold I get hives, turn blue and can stop breathing if it’s too cold for too long. Yikes… lol.

So I have to dress, well kinda ridiculously warm, all the time. I’ll spare you the details, but picture what someone wears when they ski lol… Even in summer I have to wear some under armor or something like that as a base layer under my clothes.

Will I ever find a guy?

Honey I regularly shit the bed due to a medical condition and I still have a guy sleeping in that bed next to me every night. You’re gonna be OK.

I seriously doubt it- everyone has some physical imperfection. I hope this doesn’t seem inappropriate, but you seem very attractive to me.

I’m sure you’ll meet a guy, or even some guys, who will be more than happy to bring enduring warmth to your life.

I don’t think so. Can they even tell you have a condition? If any are put off it will be the ones you don’t want anyway. It will be their loss.

I live in a ridiculously cold climate and regularly wear wool layers and extra everything. I call it ‘My Norwegian Sexy’. I’ve been married and had boyfriends and lovers. You’ll be fine. Just wear your personality first and don’t let your condition define who you are.

And that guy sleeping next to @Mariah looks like a movie star.

@chyna but both Ernest Borgnine and RinTinTin were movie stars.

Any man who rejects you on the basis of your clothing is unworthy of you or any other worthwhile woman.

If your vagina still works, you’ve got it better than most perfectly healthy men. Enjoy.

Sorry you have the issue. Peace n love.

Yes, it will turn off some guys. We ALL have traits that turn off other people.

“I like to think I’m pretty cute and fun and outgoing” is a great attitude.

Be outgoing and fun, friendships and love will follow.

Maybe, but if it turns someone off you, they’re probably not great partner material, so it would actually be filtering out people who don’t care about you enough. There are probably many men who would love their job to be to make sure you keep warm.

I’m echoing the sentiment that if someone cares more about superficial stuff like that, he really wouldn’t be worth worrying about.

If I were single and interested in someone like you, I’d make it my mission in life to make sure you get to be as warm as you need to be. I’d also use see it as an additional reason to cuddle and hold you.

Thanks everyone!
@flutherother it’s pretty obvious that something is up just based on the amount of clothes I’m wearing! Maybe they won’t think it’s actually medical, maybe they just think I’m crazy :P
@cazzie I bet you I dress warmer than you and I’m not living in nearly as cold a place as you! I don’t let the condition get me down, I even wear dresses in summer (as long as I have a base layer underneath!) and I have medication. I’m just having low self confidence in attracting a guy in the first place…
