And don’t tell me it’s something you put on a peanut butter sandwich.

A Jelly is how people on Fluther refer to people on Fluther.

We’re Jellies. I’m a Jelly. Are other Jellies having this problem with Fluther? What are Jellies doing on this New Year’s Eve?

SavoirFaire's avatar

“Jelly” is another term for a jellyfish. The whole site has an aquatic theme, and the word “fluther” is itself a collective noun for a group of jellyfish. So the site’s users have taken to calling themselves “jellies.”

A Jelly is a Flutherite.

ragingloli's avatar

It is slang for “jealous”.

NomoreY_A's avatar

@ragingloli But I never get jealous. As my old pappy used to say, a woman is like a bus. Miss the first one, another one will be along in a few minutes.

And as I always say, a man is like an incontinent dog. He pisses on your leg, and then runs off to piss on another one’s leg.

Welcome, old coot. Give yourself a little time to adjust to the culture. To be sure, it’s not what it was in the early days (say 5 to 10 years ago), but there are still remnants of it around. And it never was and never will be Y!A.

We denizens of Fluther are “jellies.”

NomoreY_A's avatar

@Jeruba Thank God it’s not Y!A, no love lost there.

Jelly is something we Brits serve with ice cream, gave a chunk of jelly straight out the pack to my dawg once, she must have thought it was alive the way she played with it…soppy bugger.

It’s that wobbly, kinda squishy thing swimming in the sea. Don’t touch it.

A jelly is someone who checks out the HELP PAGE to find out what the site name means before asking what the hell the site name means. ;-)

Your answer is at the bottom of the page:

Where did we get the name? A fluther is a group of jellyfish, like a gaggle of geese or a run of salmon. “Fluther” is pronounced /‘flʌ ðɚ/, and rhymes with “brother” and “mother”.

NomoreY_A's avatar

@Pachy I can’t be bothered with instructions, interferes with my drinking habit.

Blueroses's avatar

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly…

NomoreY_A's avatar

@Blueroses Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I’m gonna go eat worms…

Blueroses's avatar

Bring me one, if you’re buying @NomoreY_A

NomoreY_A's avatar

Actually I’m digging, but you’re welcome to a few.
