Are smartphone photos that are taken in burst mode each one an independent pic?

Asked by 2davidc8 (10189points) September 5th, 2017

Specifically, if there are 10 iPhone pics taken in burst mode, can I delete one of them without affecting the others?

In addition, when viewed as a collection, there is an arrow pointing at one of the pics. It’s not always the first or the last pic in the set. Is the pic with the arrow the one that the camera “thinks” is the best shot?

They are individual photos. It’s possible to delete one photo from a burst but iPhoneOS doesn’t make it obvious how to do it. It’s also possible to make the photos appear separately in the photos app but again it’s not obvious how to do it (if you’re interested let me know and I can explain).

The arrow (on top) is pointing to the pic that’s currently displayed. The circle underneath the picture stream is the pic that is used as the cover pic for the burst which I’m guessing is the one it thinks is the “best” or at least the most in focus pic.

@Lightlyseared Thank you for your answer. I was beginning to think that no jelly knew the answer!
