What celebrity reactions to commoners have you enjoyed most?

Asked by Pinguidchance (5040points) January 7th, 2018

Apart from tawdry, tell all viral camera footage my fave reactions are when they smack on a great big smile in anticipation of being accosted only to see the unappreciative commoner just glide by. What about you , yes you, have you ignored celebrities or seen them chuck a wobbly when insufficiently venerated?

I used to work for a security company who worked at premiers and concerts and most “celebrities” are ass wads. Except Willie Nelson. I met him face to face one night when I got stuck working at a greasy spoon in Austin. Willie walked in, asked my name and shook my hand and chatted with me a few minutes. His enterouge tried to hurry him up and he told them, you guys back off I’m talking to my buddy here! When he came out about an hour later he shook my hand again and remembered my name! He told me, good job buddy nice to meet you. Hey you be careful out here security is a dangerous line of work. Don’t let me hear nothing bad happened to you! I’ll have to admit, Willie impressed me. He’s a good person.

Interesting that you equate “celebrities” with nobility.
Unfortunate that your enjoyment is watching what you perceive to be someone else’s discomfort.

And really, if said “celebrity” did not prepare to be pleasant, they would be vilified.

You sound very young, hopefully you will have a different approach to how people react appropriately to other people when you add a little life experience. :-)

I agree with @canidmajor I take offense to being called a commoner in this question? Sadly too, most celebrities are not of the caliber they used to be I am sure you agree? However, I do have a fond memory of Right Said Fred.

I was in my 20s and sitting in a luxury coffee shop of a 5-star hotel. I used to frequent that place with my girlfriend. I was being ‘eyed up’ by a young guy rather overtly. The next moment he was joined by his brother, the then, very popular Right Said Fred.

I was into their music but unlike many others, I still do not know their real names. I just wasn’t that ‘into’ famous people. I could appreciate a song, appreciate an actor but didn’t have to know all about them. I do expect ‘famous’ people to behave a certain way towards their admiring public, or at least just be polite, it bodes them well in the long term.

Just as a side note, and speaking of behaving well. Recently Ewan McGregor left his wife for a younger lady and was asked by a popular departmental store to do their advertising. They have reported back that it was a dismal failure. I reckon ditching his wife has not put him in public favor. Clever celebs’ should work their audience don’t you think?

When they take them backstage for a shag?
By the way, do not call them commoners.
Call them “plebs”, or “peasants”.

A friend of mine saw Brad Pitt at a gas station and waved at him. He came over, and they started talking to each other. Here’s the thing: both my friend and Brad Pitt have a moderate form of prosopagnosia (the inability to recognize faces). All she knew when she saw him was “that guy looks familiar” and figured it must be someone she knows. He assumed that she was someone he knew, which is why he came over.

As soon as I realized they were both trying to get the other to reveal how they knew each other, I stepped in and said “Mr. Pitt, this is Gia. Gia, you’re talking to Brad Pitt. You’ve never met each other before, but you are both face blind.” They both thought it was pretty funny, and Brad mentioned he was trying to get in the habit of just asking who someone is.

I think JJ Watts reactions to the people he was helping in Houston after hurricane Harvey was the best.

I read a story once that Harrison Ford walked into a bar to get a drink. There was a guy passed out at the table. Ford took a picture of himself with that guy on the drunk guy’s phone! Can you imagine when he woke up the next day and saw that picture? LOL!
