Is this a good enough diet (details inside)?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24469points) March 25th, 2018

Breakfast 4 eggs in four pieces of toast. Fruit granola in milk with cantaloupe spears for lunch. Beef and broccoli or other meat and vegetables for supper. Ensure drink with pills at 6:30pm. Water at night and granola if still hungry.

I would try to add in some variation. But overall if that is the theme it seems pretty good.

At first I read “pouched” and thought “OMFG stop with the MRE shit”.

Then I thought maybe you meant “poached” which is a lot better.

I’m just glad soda and fruit juices are not in the new diet. That shit is the real killer.

@johnpowell I can choose between spears of cantaloupe, watermelon , and honeydew. I have three flavors of ensure. There are a variety of granola flavors. Their are different breads that I can try out. Yes was a typo. I am on a smartphone. I am finished with my MRE fad.

Just make sure to spice it up.

Some people disagree with me here. But I think if you overhaul your diet you still need rewards. Like have a pizza on Sunday to celebrate the healthier diet you just endured the last six days.

My thinking here is that when trying to change it is good to accept failure.

Like, I have tried to quit smoking a lot. If I went cold turkey there would always be a situation where I would smoke (like getting arrested) and then I would smoke and feel like failure and I would admit defeat and carry on with my old ways.

But if I get real with myself and admit I can fuck up every once in a while it is alright.. I am only human. Then I don’t do the baby with the bathwater thing.

For a diet, I think a larger lunch and a smaller dinner is better. But it’s different for everyone, just make sure it works for you

Overall seems like a good diet, if you can stick to it.

You might want to have some of the fruit as a snack. Having a variety of fruits is a good idea for both health and for making the diet interesting. Apples, grapes, peaches and oranges are all good choices. There is nothing wrong with healthy snacking. A handful of mixed nuts is also okay.

Make sure that the granola is not high in sugar content. Not all granolas are the same.

Go easy on the beef. Poultry and fish are healthy alternatives.

The Ensure isn’t necessary. Four eggs and four pieces of toast seems excessive. The rest looks good, satisfying, and balanced.

A good salad of mixed raw vegetables for lunch would do wonders.

@zenvelo Unless I am mistaken, the ensure is probably for extra calories. I think @RedDeerGuy1 is tall and thin.

@si3tech If a Doctor has told him he needs to gain weight, I would agree with you, but @RedDeerGuy1 has never said that.

Reddeer is a big guy. If I remember correctly 250+ pounds. I think the Ensure is marketing that convinced him that it will provide the nutrients his diet does not give him.

Well, if you want the diet to be permanent you have to ask if you can do this the rest of your life. I also agree that breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day.

Sounds good, to me. I’d love to eat honeydew every day.
