Do you ever find yourself in a situation where you don't know whether to eat breakfast or lunch, or even dinner?

Like now…it’s almost noon and I haven’t eaten. I’m torn between wanting just an English Muffin with butter and jam and milk, or a baby pizza, which is an English Muffin topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Decisions, decisions…..

Nope
I broke with convention years ago. I eat what I’m hungry for.
The rest of the country started catching up with me when fast food started advertising breakfast all day.

I guess that’s the problem. I don’t know what I’m hungry for! I remember one time, at about 3 pm, and we hadn’t eaten yet, I had a craving for eggs and toast, but I got a fried shrimp dinner instead. It did not sit well.

BTW, I went with the baby pizza.

Sugar makes you hungry.
If you have a dilemma again, have a little something sweet, and then your tummy will give you more specific clues.

I don’t need sugar to make me hungry! I haven’t eaten in, well, 20 hours or so. Since 3:00 yesterday. It’s 20 to 1 now.

I think if you find yourself in such a situation you should follow the advice of an old friend of mine.

He was fond of saying:

“I didn’t know whether to sh*t or go blind…....so I just closed one eye and farted.

Words to live by.

LOL! Well, if I had thought of that I suppose I would have skipped eating altogether!

Are you starving yourself?

Dutchess_III's avatar

No. That’s my normal eating habits.

Your body would tell you, but it sounds like you’re one of the many people who’ve suppressed their natural (healthy) need for regular meals.

If this is too much prying, please don’t feel pressured to respond, but… why is that, do you think? Did you have some unhealthy role models when you were young? People advising you to go on diets before you were even grown maybe – that sort of thing?

It’s how I’ve always eaten. I’ve never, ever had a weight problem either. No one in my family has. There was no “role models,” for eating when I was young. Mom cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner and we ate it unless, for some reason, we weren’t hungry. But we usually were. Usually we were “starving.” We didn’t snack in between meals.
As I got older I was just too busy to eat all the time. It just didn’t mean that much to me. It’s just how I roll. I like the way I look, too. I liked me better when I was younger though!

My body tells me when I’m hungry, but it doesn’t always tell me WHAT it wants to eat! I’ve also found that if my mind seems to be set on breakfast, like waffles, don’t switch it up and have fried chicken instead! It’ll about make you sick. Why is that I wonder?
