Would you be a good contestant for the show Survivor?

Asked by RayaHope (7448points) July 26th, 2022

How long do you think you would last putting up with all those strangers on an island? What role would you play: muscle, intellectual, leader, follower?

I’ll pass on that completely. Wouldn’t mind testing my wilderness skills but I’d prefer to do it alone, along the lines of Survivorman (Les Stroud) or Bear Grylls. Don’t think I could deal with all the fake friendliness and backstabbing. I realize it’s all a part of the game, and people will do alot for a million dollars and 15 minutes of fame. And my wife and I both enjoy the show, long time fans. It’s just not for me as far as being a participant.

No. I don’t like that show and would never want to be on it.

My husband would do great, everyone adores him. I am too much of a realist and not that interested in people-pleasing scenario’s.
A show like Alone on Netflix, I’d be great at.

I mean, as a sex symbol, sure.

I think I would have done well when I was much younger.

But when I watched it when it first came out, I thought that I would be one of the people voted off the island in the middle rounds because of my reluctance to form alliances, so when they get to each tribe protecting its own, I would get booted.

My old girlfriend and I tried to get on Amazing Race, because we thought we would do very well both physically and intellectually.

@zenvelo I would love to hear how things went with your Amazing Race adventure. @eyesoreu you crack me up. lol

Not for the Suvivor show as despicted.
But I once watched a physically fit grown man taken down by his two year old having a fit in a Mall…he lost.
A Survivor in the urban Jungle would be hilarious to watch.

@RayaHope Our application didn’t get accepted. We did not have a compelling back story to get viewers.

RayaHope's avatar

@Inspired_2write lol! That was probably me a few years ago.

Nope. It’s a lame show and concept. Alone calls me more.

It’s my favorite show. I’m actually watching season 6 right now on Paramount. I doubt I could handle the lack of food and sleeping situation so I’d never attempt to try out for the show. My husband wanted to for a long time but he had some physical ailments that kept him from doing it.

RayaHope's avatar

@Jonsblond I love it also. Can’t wait for the next season to start. I think the worst part would be personal hygiene being out in the elements like that in the wind-blown sand and heat and when it rains and you see them all shivering wet and cold. I think I would love the challenges..at least some of them. I always like to test myself but I don’t think I’d ever outlast anyone there.

Fun show to watch, but not to participate in.

@RayaHope The challenges look so fun! I’d love to try them. It’s definitely the living conditions I couldn’t deal with. My husband and I go tent camping every other weekend so we can rough it some, but Survivor is much harder. I need my pillows. I can’t sleep without them. :)

I always liked the idea of traipsing thru the boonies, hiking as far as possible then camping before dark. Like maybe two or three days on the Appalachian Trail. Have to put that on my bucket list. But as far as an extended stay, I enjoy my creature comforts to much.

RayaHope's avatar

@Nomore_Tantrums be careful out there, I heard lots of horror stories about the Appalachian Trail.

Nomore_Tantrums's avatar

Probably never go anyway, but yes. A lot of vids and articles on the web lately about all kinds of strangeness going on in National Parks and trails. Odd, hard to explain disappearances happen all the time.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@Nomore_Tantrums That sounds so fun! I’m on a fewof the Appalachia fb pages and they just seem traditional and old-school. Nice people though!

I wouldn’t do well for several reasons – the challenges, the roughing it and the alliances/backstabbing all wouldn’t suit me.

I watched the first season which was long, long ago but haven’t watched since. I am not a reality show fan.

RayaHope's avatar

@jca2 I suppose you’re right since the challenges, the roughing it and the alliances/backstabbing are pretty much the entire game. lol

WhyNow's avatar

Not at all. But if ever there is a show called naked and perpetually aroused… I’m in!

RayaHope's avatar

@WhyNow there is a show called “Naked and Afraid” about two people man and a woman that have to rough it in the wilderness for a couple of weeks. It’s amazing how they can do it even without shoes on that hard ground.

WhyNow's avatar

^^ There is? They do it on the hard ground? Must be cable.

RayaHope's avatar

@WhyNow damn I’m naive walked right into that one… Are you related to eyesoreu?

WhyNow's avatar

Don’t kno him BUT you are not an eye sore I assure you!

RayaHope's avatar

@WhyNow why thank you! My mom always said “Good thing you’re pretty” I just figured this is what all moms say but I’m not too sure if she was really saying that I’m dumb.

I am at loss for words (rare). Let me send you an IQ test and after we can talk
about drinks.

I am kidding! I have zero social skills, you might have guessed.
Thanks for being a good sport.
