It smells of rebellion, adventure and sex. It smells of the curiosity and eagerness to experience life that is the prodigy of teens. It also has a slight hint of naiveté and insecurity in it.

With the lights out, it’s less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain us
A mulatto, an albino, a mosquito, my libido

Miss you Kurt!

p.s. I hope your friend understands

And a healthy dash of Axe cologne as every teen boy seems to know.

Mischief and a “can-do” attitude. Here’s an additional visual/audio reference.

@Zaku ” Malodorous” had to look that one up. My vocabulary will never surpass yours.
@gorillapaws :)

It’s got nothing on Ode de Sixth Graders after Recess.

RayaHope's avatar

@kruger_d Haha :D I’ll pass.

Bonnaroo, that’s what it smells like. B.O., dope, urine, beer, cigarettes and patchouli. If enthusiasm, fun, rebellion, sex and innocence lost have a smell, it would be there too. Good times. Enjoy them while you can. Teen years are magical times of transition, awakening and release.

RayaHope's avatar

@Blackwater_Park A lot of those things are pretty gross, but not all of it :)

Blackwater_Park's avatar

@RayaHope Well, awakening to adulthood is a visceral, organic experience that showcases the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly facets of humanity. Youth is a gift, soak it in but be responsible and cautious while doing so.

RayaHope's avatar

@Blackwater_Park I know I have to be much more careful and mindful of my surroundings. My disorder makes that perfectly clear.

Blackwater_Park's avatar

@RayaHope Not sure what disorder you have. Can’t tell from speaking to you here.

If it smells anything like the high school locker room, I’d rather not smell it. :P

Ask your mom.

RayaHope's avatar

@SnipSnip I think I will she knows everything :)

@kruger_d I think you might have meant Eau de Sixth Graders After Recess. But I actually like Ode de Sixth Graders After Recess. :P

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Sixth graders after recess,
My nose says PU.

@RayaHope Your mom DOES KNOW EVERYTHING. So does Santa…

I think Courtney Love has rolled out a new concoction she calls Kurt’s Cologne.
If you can get a free sample in the Grunge department at Macy’s, that should give you an idea. ;)

^^ You guys :D

There was actually a deodorant line named Teen Spirit in the 90’s. I think it came before Nirvana’s song? Maybe Kurt was singing about deodorant.

@raum – The name of the song supposedly came from Kathleen Hanna – from Bikini Kill (and married to Ad Rock from Beastie Boys). The story goes that Kathleen wrote “Kurt smells like Teen Spirit” on Kurt’s wall. He didn’t know that Teen Spirit was a deodorant, and interpreted it to mean something else.

@hat Ha! That’s a cool backstory. I never knew that. Thanks for sharing.

Kind of funny. But one of our nicknames for one of our kids is Ad Rock. And I’m sure they have no idea that it’s from Beastie Boys.
