Do we live in the universe of the John Wick movies?

Asked by Ltryptophan (12091points) April 29th, 2023 from iPhone

Are these movies fictional stories that essentially fit our reality, or are they mostly extreme caricatures of us.

For example, the old James Bond movies that featured over the top super villains with outlandish budgets to do far fetched misdeeds. Not in our universe. Then Daniel Craig’s version was essentially living in the realm of what is possible.

Look at it another way, is John Wick’s world more like ours than Batman’s?

Wick’s world to me is in the same outlandish universe as with Batman’s. I was disappointed they took it all the way to fantasy land with that sequel and subsequent installments.

But having said that…I will continue revisiting the first one, the third and the fourth from time to time. I just love well-made fantasy movies.

No. The whole thing about a global guild of assassins that have their own quasi-culture and currency, who have hotels they treat as sacred grounds is complete fantasy.
In reality, there is no honour among thieves.

I’m with @ragingloli . The John Wick universe is further from our universe than the Batman universe, in terms of the people who live in it. Unless you pull in the non-Batman parts like The Justice League of America that includes Superman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, etc etc.

I think we are closer to a James Bond world than a John Wick.

For example, it’s easy to see Goldfinger in his Florida compound called Mara-Lago stirring up insurrection.
