Segway allowed on Chicago sidewalks?

Does anyone know if Segways are allowed on sidewalks in Chicago?

I have seen them used on sidewalks. In little groups (perhaps tours) and by the police. But I do not know if Joe Average can use them.

i almost killed myself on one of those things. I’ve no balance.

They would be in the same category as skateboards on the sidewalk, as far as I’m concerned. Unless I was Judy Jetson…

The information police aka tourist helpers have them in Milwaukee.

yes, chicago police has a moderate fleet on the streets and sidewalks.

Of course. Checkout their website. They say that it is in the same category as being on foot and that you can go inside with them and all.

Yeah they are. And I’m tired of em! Dude get a horse and get on the road. Damn segways. I find it amusing though that the fat cops are in the cars and not on the segways. Wonder if they have a weight limit…
