I heard your hipbone is pretty bad.
Anywhere near bare bone, or anywhere with loads of nerves, like the soles of your feet and…. ahem the groinal region

AllyMay's avatar

I only have 2 – and the one on the ankle was not pleasant when it got to above my heel – the back was ok.

Allie's avatar

I’m about to get one on my ribs pretty soon. Every time I tell people where I’m putting it they go “Oh… ouch” so I’m not exactly looking forward to the pain. Good to know that it’s not the worst place to get tattooed. Thanks.
The one I have on my back hip didn’t hurt at all.

Grisson's avatar

I think that having ink poked into you by sharp needles is supposed to hurt. It’s your body’s way of saying “Don’t do this to me!”.

forestGeek's avatar

I have one on my back, starting from just above my tailbone, going up my spine about 9 inches. Needless to say, it hurt like hell!

elijah's avatar

Hip to armpit, worst
Top of spine/ neck
the furthest areas of my upper back/ shoulder made my hands numb, weird but not painful.
@cage- “groinal region” that’s funny! But it didn’t hurt
@Grisson- having babies hurts, should we not do that?

Grisson's avatar

@elijahsuicide The difference is that for having babies the body’s immediate feedback to the cause is pleasure, not pain.

elijah's avatar

@Grisson you are assuming that all women feel pleasure after having a baby. Some do not I’m sure. Anyway, my tattoos bring me pleasure.

Grisson's avatar

@elijahsuicide No, I was assuming that they feel pleasure after the cause of having a baby. Which may also be a false assumption, but it’s not as naive as the other would imply.

elijah's avatar

@Grisson ok well the topic is the most painful spot to get tattooed, and unfortunately we have deviated into unrelated territory. thanks for sharing your knowledge on how a woman feels after sex ;-)

Grisson's avatar

Ah… we’re not supposed to deviate from the topic, I didn’t catch that. But then, I wasn’t the one that brought up having babies.

elijah's avatar

No, but you were the one to say ” I dont think having ink poked into you is supposed to hurt…” actually, YES it IS supposed to hurt, and actually some people DO enjoy it. Let it go, dude. Its not supposed to be an arguement. The question wasnt why do you think tattoos are stupid….

judochop's avatar

There are always going to be people who rain on tattoos. Anyway Grisson, no offense but you never answered the question.
The front of the knee and the back of the knee hurts but it’s only sore for a day or so. I’m glad that tattoos hurt or everyone and thier brother would be running around with tattoos. It’s what helps to seperate some of tattoo culture.

jonsblond's avatar

I’ve only had my hand and ankle tattooed, I would have to say the ankle hurt the most.

Lips! I tried to do permanent lipstick an sat through 4 excruciating sessions at 2 different times with 2 different artists and didn’t work. That meant paying $500.00 twice too!

Judi's avatar

@cage;
My little lady bug (which I subsequently lost to a tummy tuck) on my hip bone was a piece of cake compared to my lips!

I like Grissom’s answers even though they wandered a little from the point. Let those among us who are free from sin cast the first stone. Viz; Question and the 41 answers didn’t ring my chimes due to wandering and incoherence: http://www.fluther.com/disc/31636/where-the-heck-did-you-all-go/

Rib cage and then the top of my foot. The underside of my upper arm was also really sensitive. But I’m good with pain. Many of my tattoo artists have commented on how good of a sitter I am.

Nimis's avatar

Given I had it redone several times*,
I still have only gotten it done in one spot.
On the back, so it didn’t really hurt.

* My tattoo is done in white ink, so it fades quite a bit.

judochop's avatar

I’m not sure I quite get what happend here or why. Sometimes fluther can kind of kill my good mood. Cheers everyone, hope you’re having a good day.

Judi's avatar

I don’t know what hurt more, getting my lips tatooed or my kids calling me tatoo face.

BoyWonder's avatar

@ Judi: LMAO

@ Elijahsuicide: Cheer up buddy dry your eyes. Don’t give up your neverending struggle for lurve

@ Grissom: Point well taken. True you didn’t answer the question…neither did I LOL

poofandmook's avatar

@Judi: Thank you. You’ve just talked me out of doing a light permanent eyeliner.

The underside of my wrist (right where that “funnybone” type nerve is, if you know what I’m talking about) hurt like a MOTHER. Also the top of my foot. And over my spine. And it gets a little spicy (as my artist calls it) right around the crook of the elbow.

syz's avatar

I had a pattern tattooed around my ankle bone. There’s not fat, no muscle – it hurt.

Blondesjon's avatar

@gailcalled….oh I was unaware we were here to ring your chimes. My life now resonates with newfound purpose. ‘ding! ding!’

gailcalled's avatar

That is, indeed, the raison-d’ĂȘtre of fluther. Doesn’t it say that in the guidelines? A terrible oversight. (Note to self-speak to
Andrew.) And do note that I said “Let those among us who are free from sin cast the first stone.” By using “us,” I was including myself.

And some folks were getting snarky with Grissom, a newcomer who sounds smart and interesting.

@gailcalledwipes the tears of laughter from his eyes That was BEAUTIFUL…I am truly not worthy. backs away scraping his forehead on the petal strewn floor

Nimis's avatar

Some folks may have been getting snarky with Grissom.
But I don’t think Judochop’s reply really warranted
you (@gailcalled) singling him out with his previous question.

Not to mention that Grissom seems
perfectly capable of handling it himself.

Regardless, you (@Blondesjon) really need to stop exacerbating the situation.

gailcalled's avatar

@Nim; I apologized to Judo by PM. I was referring not to his questions but the answers and got sloppy with my writing. We do like to defend newcomers, however, while they learn the ropes. And blondsjon, jonsblond, Judo and Grissom and I have become friends.

elijah's avatar

@gailcalled- if you are implying that I am being snarky, please don’t hesitate to mention me by name. I’m sorry if I have offended you, him, or anyone else but I felt as if he was the one being snarky to me. Whatever, just thought I’d address the situation.

gailcalled's avatar

Good night, all.

jjd2006's avatar

@Judi – OUCH!

I have my inner wrist tattooed. It wasn’t NEARLY as bad as I had expected. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

BunnyPreston's avatar

Over the spine hurts bad. But it was worth it! :)
