How to deal with an annoying person that you cant tell to go away?

Asked by Lost_World (1231points) January 11th, 2009

There is this person I have known for about 3 years and basically they are dreadfully annoying. I can’t relay just say go away due to the fact that I’m not that mean.

Is there a way I can get them to stop talking to me, just nicely?

More information needed. Why do you keep running into this person? Do you work with them? Are they family? Do they phone you unexpectedly? Is it someone living nearby who comes knocking on your door?

Ignore them (in a nice way)

Are they of the opposite sex? Do they fancy your pants off?

Either way I think the best policy is to always be busy…and if they insist on coming with you… tell them you would rather go/ be on your own… unless you are doing something with other people and you just don’t want them around… then…. hmmmm….

i think it might be time for tough love… can you find a way to tell them the truthwith humility, without being too hurtful? It really does depend on the situation you keep finding yourself in with this person i think..

sometimes I think people are going to handle things really badly when actually they deal with them really really well…. people have surprised me many a time…you may even be doing them a favour in the long term….

@lynneblundell They are most defiantly the same sex, your idea of being busy is good though.

If you politely answer them if they speak to you, but never engage them or ask any questions of them…they might catch on.
