Actions speak louder than words.
Words should back up the actions.
Give what can’t be seen.
This has won hearts for centuries.

• I try very hard to listen without reaction.
• I tuck her in at night. Every night.
– There’s others, but this is what sprang to mind.

Conversely, she:
• Cooks wonderful meals for us.
• Is forever concerned for my health.
• Put up with my insane mother for far too many years.

Most importantly, we both believe in each others abilities and potential and we’re not afraid to kick each other in the ass.

By showing forgiveness. Knowing we can both be stupid at times but be willing to admit to the stupidity.

Telling him so, of course, but also: tucking him in every night, scratching his back gently until he falls asleep. Making him a fabulous sandwich. Laying on the couch with my head resting on his leg. Leaving him a little note, hidden in his work boots every now and then. Holding his hand. Dancing in the living room. Looking into his eyes. Setting out his clothes for the next day, so he doesn’t have to stumble around in the dark.

Seeing something he’d really like at the store and getting it for him. Going to an event you know he’d like more than you would. Do a chore when it’s not your turn. Knit him a warm hat and socks.
