With Verizon Wireless, can you pick your area code?

Asked by chelseababyy (7939points) January 28th, 2009

So we’re moving off Grand Cayman earlier than expected, TOMORROW. We’re going to Tampa for a week, then heading to our new home, Denver. I was just wondering, if we wanted to get phones in Tampa, could we have them give us Denver area codes? I’ve heard some people say yes, and some people say no. So I’m unsure :[

quite sad since I used to USE verizon and I have no idea!

Yes, you can also pick the city prefix if you want, and there is no charge for it.

I live in one city and have a business in another, and have separate phone numbers for each area.

Okay awesome. So I can just get them in Tampa and ask for a Denver area code and all that jazz?

call customer care. they will be able to give you a definate answer. i would personally believe they wouldn’t be able to though… I think it has to be registered in the area code it was taken from the store in or one close to it.
