Uggs and wearing tights as pants.

toomuchcoffee911's avatar

Ah yes the tights as pants fad. Sigh

Crocs and iPhone/itouch.

Oh god. I made the horrible mistake of buying Uggs a few years ago. They were so expensive and I maybe only wore them once. There’s definitely the leggings and skirts fad here.. and also the skinny jeans and boots (which I kinda like).

Aaa!! Crocs! Iphone/ iPod touch is understandable

Tight pants tucked into knee-high, high heeled boots. Some people need to learn that just because a fashion is popular doesn’t mean that it will look good on them.

A fad I am happy about is the popularity of the Prius. In my 22 mile (round-trip) drive from the east to the west SFV I’d say I see about 1 Prius per 25 cars. That’s a huge amount in the land of automobiles.

I’d have to say joblessness.

Oh you chuck and your off-topic, inappropriate humor. ;)

I’m just saying…

Anything with canvas or hemp. The whole hipster thing is growing. Oh, and Apple products. And keeping a notebook with you at all times.

I’m curious where the Croc and Uggs people live. I’m a fan of both myself, but I constantly hear about how passe they are.

Tight pants aren’t new to the area, but are a big fashion statement. Quite frankly, one I don’t think anyone ever needs to make. My 11-year-old is a big skater. He loves to skate. As soon as the weather’s nice, the ramps and rails are in the driveway and he’s grinding and jumping everything. I’m leading ip to the point that he could be legit with the tight pants. Nope, not gonna happen in this century, and he wants it bad. Then I have the 15— year-old who thinks Uggs are appropriate footwear no matter the outfit. Really? Basketball shorts and your jersey + Uggs? Where did that come from? I should be proud that she’s confident enough to wear an outfit like that out the house, but I’m horrified.

I really like that Ed Hardy gear that seems to be gaining popularity. The giraffe print bags are cute, and in. Leg warmers seem to be making a comeback, and I’ve noticed all kinds of funky fun Chuck Taylor’s. Good stuff!

Urg. I HATE Ed Hardy. What’s with the sparkles?

toomuchcoffee911's avatar

Sparkly skulls are a bit…

I hate Ed Hardy as well. I was at the Hard Rock casino the other weekend and they had a bunch of shoppes selling that stuff. It looks like someone went crazy with the Bedazzler.

growing marijuana so you can buy more tight pants, crocs, and uggs.

I see a lot of the young women wearing glasses with big frames, 80s low-heeled slouchy boots, and vintage 70s outfits, either dresses or sweater/blouse/skirt separates. I take that back. I saw Cameron Diaz the other day and she was dressed the same way. She’s close to 40, right? So it’s not just young girls, it’s any woman who can get away with that look.

Beards on the guys. Lots of bird’s nest material beardage out there. Skinny jeans on both sexes. But those are the hipsters and that’s been the style for a few years now. I’ve seen a lot of working-class kids in Ed Hardy tees, hoodies and kicks. Uggs and the like have been sent down to the working-class girls and suburban moms, at least here in NYC.

No one worth their blog is without their iPhone 3G and/or Mac Book, either. And only a dork or a 5 year old has a backpack. Everyone carries messenger/computer bags.

Really dumb headcoverings. Peruvian indian hats, hats with ear flaps in nerdy plaid, hoodies held in place with visors or big sunglasses, girls wearing cloches, pork pies and driving caps. Faux fur the moment the temperature dropped below 50.

People who skateboard wear thinner vulcanized shoes now, as opposed to bulkier cupsoles.
