Can Moderators see who gives lurve and when?

Asked by trumi (6491points) February 24th, 2009

When flutherites ever-so-politely brown nose, and/or kiss ass, is it painfully apparent? And if the lurve is visible, even just to admins, is that a violation of the whole idea of anonymous lurve?

Anyway, I just want to make it clear that I lurve unconditionally, without alternative motive and hiding nothing :)

Yes. I’m pretty sure that they can. I know that PnL knew I had given lurve to somebody, so I don’t see why all mods couldn’t do the same.

Bri_L's avatar

Can they see this?

girlofscience's avatar

Yes. I am absolutely certain that they can.

EmpressPixie's avatar

Yes. They can. So they can make sure no one is gaming lurve.

Because that’s a danger. o.O

Allie's avatar

[mod says:] We see who, but not when. There is no time stamp next to the lurve. And yes, it’s to make sure there is no self lurving going on.

RandomMrdan's avatar

I lurve myself each night before going to bed…

AstroChuck's avatar

Don’t listen to Allie’s lies. The evil mods really do it so they can spy on us.

(bottom lip quivers) Evil? =’{

Like Allie said, we can see who gives who lurve so that people who take lurve way too seriously don’t go around creating bazillion accounts and lurve themselves. Does this happen? Yes. A lot more often than you would expect. Do they not understand that lurve has no material value? Yes. I guess it’s more about an ego boost.

I would like to make it clear that we don’t have the time (or care enough) to make charts and think “hmmm trumi lurved empresspixie THREE TIMES today. what’s up with that?” Except for AstroChuck. We have made an Excel chart about how often Chuck lurves, who he lurves and what kind of answers he lurves. We have also analyzed the chart with a statistical t-test with a significant p value being assumed as < 0.05.

Yay! I’m important!

fireside's avatar

Astrochuck has a pee value.

girlofscience's avatar

@PnL: What two groups are significantly different regarding the amount of lurve they given to / received from AstroChuck?

jlm11f's avatar

@GoS – I am afraid I cannot reveal that information since it is confidential. Fluther mods are upheld to the same standards as those set by HIPAA

Bri_L's avatar

@PnL I was so sure that link was a joke. :-)

jrpowell's avatar

I stopped giving Lurve to Allie once I learned that she could see it.

Allie's avatar

You know you lurve me.

laureth's avatar

Do they not understand that lurve has no material value?

“Can’t buy me lurve… everybody tells me so.”

AstroChuck's avatar

True, but isn’t it also true that lurve is like oxygen; you get too much, you get too high, not enough and you’re gonna die?

Knotmyday's avatar

Altogether too much importance is being placed on lurve.

I have resolved to lurve without restraint, care, or even due diligence. Hooray for lurve-y promiscuity!

chyna's avatar

@Knotmyday lurve for that!

90s_kid's avatar

Can mods reveal who has maxed out?
It shows who likes me the most :).

AstroChuck's avatar

@90s_kid- You’ve reverted back to your jelly stage!

NaturalMineralWater's avatar

What is lurve? Baby don’t hurt me..

wundayatta's avatar

People can still give you lurve after they’ve maxed out; it just doesn’t show in your stats. I bet the system keeps track of that, too. I suppose that moderators have access to a data system, but they also probably have to sigh some kind of contract that forbids them from sharing it with us peon users.

Maybe astrochuck has pee value; the rest of us just get peed on.

chelseababyy's avatar

Wait, you can max out of lurve?

Allie's avatar

Yes, @chelseababyy. You max out on how much lurve you get from one person.

chelseababyy's avatar

@Allie Really? That’s.. weird.

jlm11f's avatar

@chelseababyy – to learn more about it, see this

chelseababyy's avatar

@PnL Thank you. I think you should be able to give however much you want though.

90s_kid's avatar

Rèmovèèèd!

Bri_L's avatar

your icon is a jelly fish again.

90s_kid's avatar

Yeah…people don’t appreciate my face. :S

RandomMrdan's avatar

90’s kid?! You changed your Avatar?!! I miss the photo of you with the gummy worms.

90s_kid's avatar

@RandomMrdan
The “Gummy Worms” were confetti for New Year’s, which was months ago.
I changed it for the better.
:)

90s_kid's avatar

DONE!
Lurvo

AstroChuck's avatar

@fireside- That’s great! He should use that pic.

RandomMrdan's avatar

@90s_kid I know it was confetti, I remember making a “funny” about it when you added the confetti, and I called it Gummy Worms.

BoBo1946's avatar

when you give a person the max amount allowed…speaking of lurves…is that it? Is there are time frame where that person’s lurves count again toward a person’s total?

AstroChuck's avatar

Nope. Dat’s it.

ETpro's avatar

So what with maxing out, stick around long enough an you’ll only be able to Lurve the dickwads and douchbags of the Fluthersphere. There’s something philosophically satisfying about that. Makes better people or Jellies, of us.
