I need very small stamps to use for embossing Christmas cards. Like little stars of something to add to a card. Is any stamp made insuch a small size?

Yes. Go to Kate's Papierie (paperie? I'm not sure how it's spelled). It's a chain of very classy expensive stationery and art supplies. I know they have branches in SF and NYC; not sure about other cities. You could also try an art supply store like Pearl Paint, but I think Kate's is a better bet.

If you are in San Francisco, you could also try Flax art supply on Market street. One impt thing to note is that they are closed on Sundays.

I think there is now software you can buy that allows you to put your own photos on stamps. I don't know but maybe the size is adjustable. I saw the software at a Mac store, but this was also marketed by the post office.

It’s actually really cheap to make your own stamps!
And the turnaround is really short.
Only a couple of days usually.
