What song makes you happy?

Asked by Lothloriengaladriel (1555points) March 11th, 2009

I love this song, It makes me happy, Reminiscent but not in a bad way, When I hear it I just picture driving home with my ex, Holding hands. Its refreshing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt7idfsa9hg

lyrics:
Meet me in outer space
We could spend the night;
watch the earth come up
I’ve grown tired of that place;
won’t you come with me?
We could start again.

How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do
How do you do it?
It’s better than I ever knew

Meet me in outer space
I will hold you close, if you’re afraid of heights
I need you to see this place, it might be the only way;
that I can show you how
It feels to be inside you

How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do.
How do you do it?
It’s better than I ever knew.
How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do

Ohhh…

You are stellar.

You are stellar.

How do you do it?
make me feel like I do.
How do you do it?
its better than I ever knew.

How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do.

How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do.

I think there may have been a thread about this already, but I’ll answer again. Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles.

Ignore the first 30 seconds, that part’s kind of unpleasant.

Somebody Told Me – The Killers. There’s just something about the line “Somebody told me you had boyfriend who looked like a girlfriend that I had in February of last year, it’s not confidential, I’ve got potential…” Also, Hold my Hand by Hootie and the Blowfish, yes I know it is cheesy but it always makes me smile.

@ark_a_dong it is interesting lol do you live in clearwater?

With or Without You My favorite song from my favorite album from my favorite group from my favorite summer from my favorite year in high school. Can’t beat that.

@Lothloriengaladriel – YEAYYYYY – After all the hate on another thread it is good to hear someone else likes them.

First song that comes to mind. Beautiful Song – Cansei de Ser Sexy (CSS)

Paolo Nutini – New Shoes
and
The Beatles – Yellow Submarine

(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones :) :) :)

Also, it’s a really corny song, but Pork and Beans by Weezer just makes me really optimistic. Last year that was my “it’s summer, I just graduated high school and life’s full of possibility” song.

@KrystaElyse Lurve for New Shoes.

@Marina – That is my number one all time favorite song to sing at church!!!!! I sing that so loud people smile and then slowly move away!! Lurve!

I am going to add

Joy to the World

SuperMouse's avatar

@trumi great answer! ELO’s songs always make me smile!

@evelyns pet zebra, do you like the Tommy James and the Shondells version of Mony Mony? I like Bill Idol’s version, but you can’t beat Tommy James!

@Marina, Ode to Joy is truly one of the most joyful songs around. Eine Kliene Nachtmusik is right up there too.

Thought of some more Mr.Jones- Counting Crowes, Fire Inside-Bob Segar and Maggie May- Rod Stewart they just make me feel like dancing!!

@jmah – I like that song a lot!

I’m not going to list The Beatles or Bach yet again. So I offer Pale and Precious by The (mighty) Dukes of Stratosphear. It’s an homage, yes, and brilliantly done. Those harmonies make me smile every time I hear this song. Can’t help it.

If I were Queen, Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding and Dave Gregory would be peers of the realm.

@SuperMouse That’s who I was thinking of, Tommy James and the Shondells. (almost ended that sentence with a preposition). Yeah, I like that version too. I also like their version of “I Think We’re Alone Now”. I hate the Tiffany version of it, though. Sometimes, the originals are the best.

SuperMouse's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra yeah Tiffany pretty much destroyed a great song. Another great song by Tommy James – and a great “feel good” song is Draggin the Line, any song with the lyrics ”...huggin a tree when you get near it, digging the rain and the snow and the bright sunshine” is ok by me!

whackyrusty's avatar

Just thought of another. Wop-A-Din-Din – Mark Kozelek. A song written about his cat :)

Lothloriengaladriel's avatar

@ark what are you talking about?

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@SuperMouse thanks, now I have to go back to Amazon mp3 downloads to see if I can find that one. I loved that song.

peyton_farquhar's avatar

@jmah that song was featured in 28 Days Later. It makes me think of having my face clawed off by zombies.
I hate you.

One that always makes me smile is “Dueling Banjos”. Who can hear that and not be happy?
The song that always makes me dance is “It’s Rainin’ Men” by the Weathergirls. What can I say? I grew up disco!!

SuperMouse's avatar

@VS I’m guessing you haven’t seen Deliverance. I promise it will change your opinion of Dueling Banjos.

@Lothloriengaladriel That is the song that my husband and I danced to at our wedding reception! Thanks so much for making me smile.

Lothloriengaladriel's avatar

@ark_a_dong sorry I noticed the band you posted was a local band from pinellas county lol thats what I asked.

Lothloriengaladriel's avatar

@zephyr826 Aww thats really sweet! (:

@SuperMouse
Actually I have seen Deliverance. Have been rafting on the Chattahootchee myself. Hated that movie, but I still like the song. It’s just happy music to me. I just don’t associate ‘squeal like a pig’ with banjo picking.

SuperMouse's avatar

@VS I cannot hear that song without thinking of that horrible movie! I am impressed that you can see beyond it!
