Pringles seem to be rather tasty.

oooh and Fritos!

Lays in chicago, but we have some “microchip” breweries here that are imported from the east that are real good.

I second Kettle, their Honey Dijon are really, really, delicious.

Lays. Coming in for a close second is Fritos, but they aren’t really a potatoe chip.

There’s a nice brand here called Old Dutch which has started existing in the past year. Their chips are all very nice. I do enjoy Mrs Vickie’s kettle chips, but only occasionally as they are a bit too greasy for my liking. I also really enjoy Pringles even though they are more potato goop than chip (there’s a really cool How It’s Made episode about making them!).

Old Dutch Potato Chips? Kind’a greasy, but what can I say, I grew up with them.

laureth stole my answer. I love the yogurt and green onion ones. Even the lightly salted ones are fantastic. It is a good thing that they come in such a small bag. I will eat one in one sitting.

“Ruffles have ridges”. There’s just something catchy in that one little phrase and they taste so good too (all of their different flavors).

Wavy Lays! Yum!!!

The best potato chips I have ever had come from Pennsylvania.

Either Herr’s original or Utz regular are my very favorites.

Better Maid-makes me hungry!. I think potato chips are Americana. We no longer have local breweries like we did, but we still have local chip makers.
Good nite.

Vitners. Chicago classic. And who doesn’t love a saxophone playing bag of potato chips?

I am surprised because this is a poll question, and it never was nixed- I got my answers.

@dynamicduo Old Dutch are great, they’re Canadian eh, we’ve had them up here at least as long as I’ve been doing this “existing” thing.

Garebo's avatar

Well, as a matter of fact, they are from Minnesota, no question they are pushed up there yonder. You must have some great brands as well up there too in the north land?

dynamicduo's avatar

We don’t really have any native brands I don’t think… well, is Miss Vickie’s native? Wikipedia says it’s not but that the chips are primarily targeted here. Those are hands down delicious kettle chips, but like I said a treat not a regular eating.

There are the generic store brands. Actually, the President’s Choice brand at Loblaws makes really interesting things. Some of their chips are pretty unique, new flavours, and good value too. But I wouldn’t call them my favorite.

I like this American (I think) brand called LAYS but it costs like $10 a bag here – that’s the equivalent of the price of 2 people eating out at a local coffee shop. I first saw it a few years ago but it’s not sold everywhere (coz of the price). In general I love crisps and I’m also a potato-addict. So one day I was out with friends and said, “I feel like having some LAYS” and they looked at me funny. I said, “But they’re really good…...sooooo gooood.” Without context, I later realized why I got such a reaction.

But I don’t see them in shops anymore except at the expatriate supermarket. No more Lays for me :(.
