Add chilli or Tabasco sauce . You could have garlic and chocolate to it . Peanut butter and the cheese goes good.

I know this isn’t what you asked, but I just made pita bread using frozen dinner rolls—thaw out as many rolls in the microwave that you want to use, roll out flat on a floured board, fry in an oiled skillet, about 2 minutes per side. They are puffy and soft. Great with hummus, or with cream cheese with pepper jelly. Yum!

I’m having a hard time with that one. Cream cheese is not Mexican food. Not even in Philadelphia.

However, I have had an interesting concoction called an “Armadillo Egg”.
This is made by splitting a jalepeno pepper, filling it with cream cheese, putting the jalepeno pepper back together and then wrapping it up with a strip of bacon and putting a toothpick through it to hold it all together. Then bake it.

I called it “interesting” because it was unusual and not to my tastes though others really seem to like it.

12oz. cream cheese
12oz. of your favorite salsa
2oz. chopped olives
5 tablespoons Monterey jack cheese

Stir cheam cheese and salsa until smooth then mix in the cheese and olives.
It doesn’t get easier than that.

This Chili Con Queso dip is cream-cheese based and is similar to the one sold in my grocery store. It’s pretty easy to make too.

Even simpler than AstroChuck’s concoction but just as tasty:

Get a clean plate. Put a block of cream cheese on it. Pour your favorite salsa over the cheese. Dig in with tortilla chips.

It is also good but different if you pour one of those fancy bottled raspberry chipotle sauces over it.

Edit: cream cheese. (not sure where you can get cheam cheese. Perhaps the same aisle that sells malk)

I love dips like this. Kind of like a whole taco to dip your chips in. I haven’t tried this particular one, but it looks delicious!

@augustlan- Ehh. That one’s no good. It’s got meat in it1

@augustlan – I fear that those always taste good to me for the first bite, but not after that. I prefer a dip that has a simple, strong flavor such as onion or chipotle peppers and lots of artery-encrusting fat.

My husband makes a marvelous dip with cream cheese, sour cream, onions diced very, very fine, and smoked oysters. However, it isn’t really one with which to use tortilla chips or even Fritos – Ritz crackers work well as do Saltines.
