General Question

If your name was your virtue, what would you be called?

Asked by SuperMouse (30845points) May 30th, 2009

This question actually comes courtesy of my six year-old. We were listening to the Jason Mraz song that includes the line “our name is our virtue” which made him think of this question. If your name was your virtue, what would it be? Mine would probably be Hope, I guarantee it would not be patience!

My name, Katherine, means “pure”. And though that doesn’t apply to my body, I do my best to ensure that it applies to my heart and intentions. I try to live as honestly and transparently as possible, because it keeps my life simple and allows me to sleep with a clear conscience.

My name, “Michael”, means “He who is like God”. That’s about right I’d say! :)

I think my name would be Gratitude.

I think mine might be steadfast or loyal or something like that.

However, my son says it would be “fat slug.” And he is in a good mood today.

Virtus (latin for virtue), Moralitas (latin for moral, character, proper behavior), Vestal (chaste).

since i believe in myself and God, of course.
funny my name is not a virtue at all
it means “goddess of the moon”

My name means “princess”, so I’m not sure…

@DrasticDreamer: I think the questioner was asking what virtue would you want to be named after or would best represent you? I only used my real name because it does have a meaning that I have tried to incorporate into my life.

I don’t want to tell you what my name really means, because then you would know my name.

I’ll say my virtue would be freedom, in all of it’s forms, for good and for bad.

My name means “Holy” and I’m not sure if that’s a virtue, but it is to me, ‘cause that’s what I am!

Side note: I searched in so many places to find out what Jason Mraz meant in his song when he said “our name is our virtue” and this actually helped me understand it.
