Do girls normally sleep with socks on?

Asked by jjosephs (115points) July 25th, 2009

It’s the first time I’m having a girlfriend sleep over and she asked for a pair of my socks. Is tis normal? Does it signify anything? PS – We’re in a warn Caribbean country

I generally do, but that’s because my feet get really cold. Even when it’s warm out my feet can get freezing. It’s just a preference for some people, I really wouldn’t look into it too far. ;)

I wear socks to sleep when it’s really cold, but when I wake up one is somehow always missing…

I CANNOT. If happen to fall asleep with them on I usually take them off in my sleep. My bare feet in my bed is super comfy.

EDIT Oops, I didn’t see that it was gender specific. I’m a boy.

Please, allow me to answer for “all” the girls in the world, no we do not all wear socks to bed, although some of us do. I think it is the same for boys, some do some don’t regardless of the climate but it is probably more common in cold places.

I used to always wear socks to bed. I couldn’t sleep without them.

One time I tried sleeping without them as an experiment. It was pretty great. I can go either way, but I usually sleep barefoot now.

From what I’ve heard, most people do not can not sleep with socks on. But, I don’t think it means anything other then preference.

I got in the habit of wearing socks to bed once, but now I rely on my electric blanket. Unless I have comered.

I don’t see why it would matter one way or the other. I only wear socks if it’s cold, but maybe she just likes wearing them.

cookieman's avatar

I think it means…her feet were cold.

autumn43's avatar

I only wear one and the other foot has to hang out of the sheets (not the one with the sock). oh oh! What does that mean?!

@cprevite true

I wear socks when my feet are cold or when my ankles cracked and I placed a generous amount of lotion on them (they absorb better this way) – but I always find one of the socks missing (or both) when I wake up.

Umm…it could also be that either your girlfriend was feeling cold or she hasn’t retouched her pedi nail polish. =P

I think those wearing socks to bed have low blood circulation to their feet, I’d go check with doc about that if I were them.

this is a mystery, indeed

Some girls tend towards having cold hands and feet. Others don’t. The cold ones may wear socks to bed. I, on the other hand, absolutely cannot because I would die of heat. That is, unless I were unusually freezing and couldn’t warm up.

Sarcasm's avatar

Maybe she doesn’t trim her toenails well and doesn’t want her feet to cut up your feet.

veronasgirl's avatar

It depends on the night for me, but usually I can’t sleep with socks on, it keeps me awake until I take them off.
It isn’t “A Girl Thing”, it’s an “Individual preference thing”. Every girl is different, just as every guy is different. She probably has a lot of interesting personality quirks that you will discover as you get to know her better.

I dont wear my socks in bed, only when it’s like really cold then I feel warm and comfy :)

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@Sarcasm Yikes, LOL!

I do in the winter if it’s really cold. If my feet get cold, I’m cold all over. In fact, I wear socks a lot (not to bed) now, because the A/C blows on the floor & it makes my feet cold.

casheroo's avatar

I used to, but married a man with an extreme aversion to socks in bed. Sometimes I wear them to bother him, and rub against him. So, it’s rare that I wear them…probably if it’s cold.

hungryhungryhortence's avatar

I’m a female and I often sleep with socks to cover up my feet slathered in lotion/balm. This isn’t something I do when sleeping with someone else in the same bed, not usually.

gailcalled's avatar

Why is it assumed that the girl in question is wearing socks on her feet? Nowhere is jjosephs specific.

autumn43's avatar

does ‘socks’ stand for something else in a Caribbean country?

Sarcasm's avatar

@autumn43 maybe. It does in Spanish countries.

dynamicduo's avatar

I don’t. I hate the feeling of my feet covered tightly when I sleep. In fact, I haven’t worn socks all summer long, a point I’m very proud of!

kelgfashion's avatar

only when my feet are cold
