Good way to train reaction time or hand eye coordination with household objects?

Asked by pikipupiba (1629points) August 13th, 2009

I just want an easy way to train while sitting on the couch.
Go for it. It’s all open from there.

Juggle with three pairs of rolled-up socks.

Grab a tennis ball and toss it around all the time. You can also use a golf ball, just be careful not to break anything.

I learned to throw left-handed very accurately when I broke my arm by tossing a stuffed animal for my puppy.

Lie on your back. Throw a Koosh ball straight up so it will come down directly at your face. Catch it before it does. Alternate hands. Try to throw the ball higher and higher.

I second the juggling. If you stick with it, you get better at everything involving coordination. I actually learned to juggle while sitting on a bench, so I suggest that you give it a try. If you are sitting down, there is less space that you have to reach down to pick up a dropped ball.

Juggling, juggling, juggling. Just find a few balls or round objects. I use tennis balls; they are just the right weight and not too hard to break something very easily.

Dart board: If you have a dart board try practicing throw them kinda fast one right after the other (better to get a plastic one, unless you’re not afraid to use the real metal, sharp ones)

Make up a mini basketball game: Find a basket or cup and a ball that will fit in it and practice your shot from across a room.

Well, bieve it or not video games are a great way to improve hand eye co-ordination, just don’t get addicted aslo try multitasking even with simple things, such as reading while you eat, so one hand is turning the pages of the book while the other handles food and drink.

stare at the tv or another object and toss something like socks or a tennis ball in the air without following it and try to catch it on the way down. Toss the object from different angles and other look at the object as soon as it gets close to your hands. Toss it more out in front of you. This will really help your reaction time and give you quicker hands. It may even help your peripheral vision if you toss the object to the side

@Marina You broke your arm by tossing a stuffed animal for your puppy? Drink a glass of milk once in a while and build those bones!

train for what?

people who play video games have a faster reaction time than people who do not.

(twitch muscles in the hands/fingers are faster, idk if it applies to the rest of your body)

play with pens, coins or a lighter. i twirl pens, i move coins back and forth over my knuckles or shuffle groups of them like with poker chips. i move the lighter around my fingers and light them in different angles using different fingers or textures nearby.
beats the boredom.

grab your sister and throw a tennis ball for hours and hours, you can do it not just at home, but when your on holiday and get bored, in the line for a long movie, waiting for dinner to arrive at the restraunt. Beat the boredom and gain good reflexes.
