Do you know any people who remind you of specific animals?

Maybe I am weird for noticing these things. My best friend in high school had a mouth, chin and face shape that reminded me of a cat. My boyfriend had a buzz cut and that, combined with the shape of his face/head and his small chin made him look like a turtle.

Another boyfriend put a picture of a tiger looking through the leaves on his wall because he said it reminded him of me.

Best of all, my ex-husband reminded me of a lemur. I swear, when I see pictures of them I think of him. I think it is their eyes. He has that wide-eyed look and thick glasses. When I see videos of them running I laugh out loud. He has long arms and he just sort of moves like they do. I’m giggling right now thinking about it. :) He is the only one I ever told that he looked like an animal – we watched some lemurs on TV and he got pissed at first but then he totally agreed. We laughed until we were on the floor crying and he started doing a damn good impersonation.

So, do you have any similar stories? Would you tell the people? Would you be offended if someone said you looked like an animal?

In high school, my group of friends and I all gave each other animal nicknames that were half youthful-humor and half testosterone-fueled insults. The members were:

Giraffe – for having a long neck
Horse – for making neighing sounds and having large teeth
Monkey – for being agile and quick
Elephant – for having large ears
Rat – for having a large nose
Duck – for making quacking noises
Moose – for being large and heavy

I still think back to how the nicknames started out playfully but were easily flipped into childish name-calling when temperatures rose. High school was an interesting time…

I do this all the time. My sister reminds me of a bunny and I’ve told her, because she asked. Someone else I know reminds me of a ferret, partly because he has a long, skinny face – but it’s mostly because of his personality. My best friend looks like a lion because she has red, curly hair with lots of volume, and very defined jaw bones.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one out there that does this. :D

Yes! I notice oddities like that all the time – luckily my best friend suffers from the same imagination and we have countless hours of fun making these connections!

i have encountered goats, aardvarks, bumble bee’s, horses, a walrus, bugs, camels and ferrets… to name but a few.

Sometimes, the way my husband acts he reminds me of a cat with a head of a bird – and my second son looks like a little eagle bird

Absolutely.

My wife is a duck.
My brother-in-law is a koala bear.
I am a basset hound.

I too see this.

My little sister reminds me of Mort, from The Penguins of Madagascar. I’m not sure what type of animal it is, though. But she has those thick eyelashes and big beaty brown eyes.

Jocelyn Wildenstein (a.k.a. Catwoman) kind of reminds me of a lion. Can you say “plastic surgery disaster”?
