Is it possible to use toilet bowl water as a bidet, in a pinch?

Asked by bumwithablackberry (932points) September 14th, 2009

Or should this technique only be reserved for those drunken stupor oops moments at the bar.

No. The perianal area is the primary source of infection in humans.

It is possible to buy an accessory for your toilet that will tap the clean water from the pipe, and funnel it into a hose that sits on the edge of the toilet, creating a mock-bidet, if you will. I’m not sure if that’s what you were asking.

What’s wrong with just using TP?

Or a wet wipe.

Seems like a nice way to get an infection.

Is it just me or is there any relation between the name @bumwithablackberry and this question?

I was thinking about Bum’s bum, myself

LOLLLLL…He must have a bum bum.

I can’t imagine “cleaning” myself with toilet water. It’s got to be just filthy.

‘In a a pinch?’ What would be the reason for having to do this?

knitfroggy's avatar

In a pinch, which to me, is being out of TP, I’ll use a paper napkin or a paper towel, but never toilet water.

I once used a dollar bill, at someone’s house, after a frantic search for their TP. I picked the oldest, softest one.

That’s one of the many reasons I always carry tissues in my purse.

fonely I had a purse

@pdworkin I think you’re wrong about the perianal area being the primary source of infection in humans. I’ve been told otherwise.

dpworkin's avatar

That’s what I was told the last time I was hospitalized. Primary transmission source is hands, primary source is perianal area. They could have been misleading me.

casheroo's avatar

@pdworkin Then I mustn’t be understanding what you mean by “primary source.” As in, people touch it with their hands then transmit the infection? Because people can have chronic open wounds on their anus and not get infections..actually, it’s quite rare.
yes, when I get into the medical field I want to study colorectal diseases. I find them fascinating

They were explaining the transmission of resistant staph to me. I’m not a Doctor, nor do I play one on Fluther.
