What animal lives in california and makes a pretty fast clicking noise?

the noise was going toward my cat in the trees.

Where do you live?? Where specifically are you hearing the chirping? I know some ground squirrels do that. We (my dog and I) hear and see them at the river.

Also, I dont think something that clicks and is in the trees is capable of harming your cats.

Clicking sounds tend to come from insects.

Clicking noises coming from an animal up in a tree leads me to believe that it was a bat.

Harp's avatar

Raccoons can make rapid clicking noises, hang out in trees, and would be quite capable of taking on a cat.
