DVD booktype changes?

Asked by kevinchai (31points) February 3rd, 2010

On ImgBurn, when I go to change the booktype to burn a disc, it lists “Changes available:” as a finite number. In the extremely unlikely case that I ever run this down to zero, what would happen? Would it just be stuck on one booktype forever? If that’s the case, why?

You are right, that is the number of changes allowed. It does however have nothing to do with the amount of burns you can make and the drive will remember the latest setting. You will therefore likely never run out of these changes. Even if you do, there are several firmware utilities around that allow you to reset this maximum.

You’ll need to know the exact brand and details of your drive, though.
