What is a good (Windows) program to record video and audio?

Asked by jfos (7392points) February 15th, 2010

I am using my laptop’s built-in camera and a plug-in microphone. I want to record video (me playing guitar) and audio (the guitar and my voice).

I am looking for a free program. I know that “you get what you pay for”, so I am not looking for something amazing, but just something I can use.

I have Windows Vista.

http://camstudio.org/ might be able to do it. I have never tested it so YMMV. I’m on a Mac and use Screenflow to do what you want.

I have heard many people recommend audacity for audio, but I am not sure about video. Here is a link to take a look at it..good luck→

@johnpowell The description of CamStudio sounds like it is for computer tutorials and the video is actually taken of what is on the screen. I could be wrong.

@DixieRock I currently use Audacity for audio, but I’d like to incorporate the video dimension.

Audacity is actually pretty nice to for audio recording.
