How does one remove one's own comment once posted?

Asked by plethora (10007points) February 22nd, 2010

If I post a comment and later decide I want to remove it, how do I do it?

If you decide to remove it within 10 minutes of posting, you can just edit it to say something like Removed by Me. After your 10 minutes to edit are up, you might be out of luck. Your best bet would be to flag it, and send a PM to a moderator asking for it to be removed. However, the removal of the post will be up to the moderators’ discretion. They may not grant all requests, as some posts may be useful for other users, even if you no longer wish for it to be up.

Long story short; be careful what you post.

[mod says] @jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities nailed it. Flag it for us, and give us the reason you’d like it removed. We’ll be happy to take a look, but make no guarantees that it will actually be removed.
