If I bake bbq chicken and veggie lasagna at the same time, will I ruin either one?

Asked by juniper (1910points) April 2nd, 2010

Both the chicken and the lasagna are supposed to bake at 375 for 30 mins, but I’d hate for the lasagna to smell or taste like bbq sauce, or something. Will one dish take on the flavor of another?

I need both to be done at the same time. I know it’s a weird combination, but I asked my friend what she wanted for her birthday dinner, and this was it.

Thanks!

I don’t think you will have any crossover smells. You are baking the lasagna covered, are you not?

It wil be fine. As Marinalife says. I would cover the lasagna. If you want it to dry out a bit at the end, you could take out the chicken, uncover the lasagna and let it cook another five minutes.

No it should be ok, cover both til the end, then uncover and finish off separately if need be.

Another alternate solution is to do the chicken on a grill if it can be managed.

The only thing is that you need to make sure the temperature is maintained. The more things you put in the oven, the harder it has to work to keep the temperature up. Be sure to pre-heat thoroughly and keep the opening of the door to a minimum.
