Is it possible to prevent your friends from tagging you in photos on Facebook?

Asked by nebule (16452points) April 6th, 2010

My sister is deleting her account for various reasons but wishes to open a new one and invite very close friends and family as friends. However, if I tagged her in one of my albums…then my friends (which might be some of her old friends) could see that she is in fact on Facebook,..and then obviously they might try to add her as a friend. Is there any way she can put settings on her account to prevent ANYONE from tagging her in an album?

Just don’t tag her, instead send her a copy of the picture or a link to the picture, if she wants to add it to her album, she would do so.

She needs to go to the top right of her facebook page and click on the word account,
then click on privacy settings
Click on profile information
scroll down to photos and videos of me
and change the setting to “only me” (or whatever is relevant)

she should also click on
privacy settings—- then got to applications and websites—— scroll down to find ” what your friends can share about you ” ., uncheck everything….

Also when you do post a photo of her you can use your own privacy settings so only certain people can see it, and I recommend you do so.

@CarolinaBelle well…a) i care because she’s my sister and close friend and b) it seems stupid to try to ensure that all her friends don’t tag her (or even worse have to go and untag herself) if there is a simple setting that will prevent her being tagged in the first place…

simplest solution and all that….

and do please…try to be helpful…thank you :-)

@escapedone7 thank you!! xx

The things I learned from having a stalker. Stealth mode is my expertise. She can also remove herself from the public search. In fact she should check out every privacy setting on there and use them accordingly.
