Should I wear glasses or contacts on a roller coaster?

Asked by Mariah (25883points) May 23rd, 2010

Going to a theme park tomorrow and wondering if wearing either glasses or contacts is a bad idea on roller coasters. I’m worried that contacts might dry up in the wind, or that glasses might fall off. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Contacts are fine. If you’re going on a roller coaster that goes upside down, I’d take them off and store them with all the loose shoes that the attendant keeps as well.

My contacts never bothered me on roller coasters, and I had to take off my glasses if I wore them. You should wear contacts.

I’ve done both. Lost a very expensive pair of glasses and contacts always dry up on the coasters. I’ve opted for glasses and having them clipped or tied down.

Depends on the ride, I guess.
On all of the roller coasters rides I’ve been on, I have never lost my glasses. If you’re still worried about losing your glasses, keep a spare.

Wear the contacts. I’ve never had contacts fall out & I have worn them for decades.

Go to the park, wearing your glasses, and take them off when you board the roller coaster.
Put them back on when the fun is finished.
Or are your eyes maybe that bad that you can not see a thing while not wearing glasses/contacts?
If they are not that bad you can see still enough (or not much at all, since you’ll be upside down, going very fast) of what you are experiencing.

I have found that my contacts made going to theme parks so much more enjoyable. I used to wear glasses all the time, and it was annoying having to take them off and put them in the cubbies; some rides don’t even have the cubbies. I would often be anxious about something happening to them. Contacts are hassle free and mine don’t dry out from the rides (and I have pretty dry eyes).

Contact lens of course.

I just take my glasses off and zip them up in my pocket.

well, to tell ya the truth, im only reading this cuz im going to busch gardens europe(Look it up.)and i wanna wear contacts, but im afraid they might dry up. ive always worn glasses and they nevr fall off. never! i swear, if you look up busch gardens europe online(its in VA, and i live an hour from it) ya may see on da home page, one of the main rollercoasters is called “Griffin”. Griffin is the best ride evr, and i HAVE to go on it, like, 5 times!!!anyways, it goes over 120 feet up and drops 90 degrees down on the first fall. there is no way my contacts will survive that. but i havent evr had a problem! :)

contacts will be fine. my friend wears them all the time and never has complains. me on the other hand do not like contacts so i refuse to wear them so i wear my glasses on the ride and take a spare oair in my bag, when ever you get glasses you always have the previous pair. it is up to you but if you don’t like contacts and you hate taking your glasses off(like i do) take a spare. its easier anyway. then if someone takes your bag(which shouldn’t happen) you will have the ones your wearing. just don’t put them in a pocket. they get bashed about and crack. even with a case. hope it helped
