Meta Question

I'm seeing "response moderated" instead of seeing the user that posted it, is this new or a glitch?

It’s a recently added feature. I believe they added it so the moderated posts would be less distracting.

okay. I hope I didn’t double post… I looked through the meta section quickly and didn’t see it. Thanks!

Example?

Oh. No, guys, no. That is not a solution.

I have seen several changes, such as spreading out the choices at the top of the page so you can’t accidentally click on the wrong one, and putting an awful looking ‘bar’ in place of the “removed by moderator” words.

Is it possible to give users the ability to turn moderation on and off? That way those who wish to see everything can do so, while those who prefer to have their food pre-chewed for them can also have it.

I’m with @Jeruba. I don’t like it. (I know, no one asked my opinion.)

What don’t you like about it?

jonsblond's avatar

I think it stands out more, and is more distracting this way. just my opinion Maybe smaller print and a smaller bar would be less distracting?

If you are going to take the users name off, why not just remove the response without even mentioning it?

timtrueman's avatar

@chyna do you think we should add the username back in?

chyna's avatar

Yes, I think so. Why don’t you ask the collective though?

timtrueman's avatar

I’d like to collect a little more feedback and give it a little bit of time (it’s hard to judge something so quickly).

You analytical types…

I’m for putting it back the way it was visually, but maybe you could still put the reason why it was removed…? Combine the two? I think the way it is now is visually distracting.

YARNLADY's avatar

I’d rather you simply remove and leave nothing behind.

@chyna, @YARNLADY It does look a bit weird to just have an empty line, doesn’t it? However, I fear that when people can no longer see other people’s responses getting removed, they feel like they’re being singled out by the moderators. I think it’s good to leave some trace of a removed response on the thread so people can see they’re not the only ones being moderated.

I LIEK IT I LIEK IT!

I think they should keep something there, so that a conversation will make more sense if parts were modded and you could see that they were instead of gibberish.

I think the username and avatar should remain visible and the old wording should be restored. I don’t think this change was an improvement.
