Have you seen this advertisement, what did you think of the way they got their message across?

Asked by Adagio (14059points) September 17th, 2014

I was sent this ad yesterday and thought it extraordinarily clever. You need to know that the movie patrons had been asked to leave their phones switched on.

Got my attention and I would guess that there was a theater full of movie viewers who will remember it for a while.

At least until they get into their car and call their friends to tell them about what they just saw.

VW has always had cutting-edge ads from the moment that the first blue Beetle crawled into our lives (my first car) with no gas gauge and the engine in some weird spot.

A big pat on the back for the creater. If only there were a way to make the same effect through home televisions, so it could be experienced by all, rather than simply observed. I would like to see at least college campuses duplicate the ploy. It must be quite effective.

That was powerful.

They will end up dismissing it saying they answered their phone because they were in the theater, but would never do so if they had actually been driving.
