Have you ever been robbed or mugged?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24484points) April 22nd, 2017

I’ve had guns drawn on me before. They never got a cent? Most of the time I beat the hell out of them. You? Including as a teenager with bullies ?

Had my car stolen once. I’ve been a witness to a lot of gun violence, but I was never directly involved.

Had a chick hold a knife to my face once. She thought she was bad ass street. I laughed at her, and told her I could take it from her, then kill her five ways with my bare hands before she knew it was gone. She turned chicken shit, and gave me the knife, and apologized. I told her to get fucking lost.
She did.

Yes, in Oakland, CA. Two guys came up behind me and hit me on the side of my head, knocking me to the ground, breaking my glasses. Then, while I was still on the ground, they hit me again, and one of them said, “Wallet!”. I was dazed, groggy and confused, and couldn’t see clearly, so I just handed him my wallet. Then they hit my head again, just to make sure I stayed down.
There was $240 in my wallet (never again would I have more than $100 in my wallet, and nowadays much less), but nothing else. I always kept my credit cards, keys, and ID elsewhere.

The only time someone took something off my body was when I was about twelve and was pick-pocketed in NYC.

People have tried to bully, threaten and intimidate me, threaten my life, and started to attack me, and make demands, but they never drew real weapons, and never got me to give them anything. Except traffic police running speed traps. Oh, and a group of youths pretending to be police/military in Prague – fortunately their fake cash fine didn’t amount to much.

The closest I’ve come to being mugged was when I worked as a cleaner, and a client scammed me out of my payment for three hours’ work.

Oh, and my parents were mugged just outside a train station in Oakland. They were knocked down, and they took my mom’s gold necklace, purse, money and credit cards. This was about 30 years ago.

Someone broke into my car and stole my giant CD wallet with like 100 cds on it.

It was mostly a pain in the ass for me, because they were all Napster and Kazaa downloads and that’s when you actually had to take up real phone time to pirate music at 56K speeds.

I’m certain all my bootlegged stuff ended up in the trash. It wasn’t anything someone going around breaking into cars would have been interested in. I was on a big jazz and swing and Broadway kick those days.

My previous car was burglarized 3 times and my house has also been burglarized thrice.

But even worse, is that one of my questions was hijacked and some of my answers were stolen before I posted them! ;-(

I was burgled once. Didn’t lose anything I cared about.

House robbed and mugged. The house robbery I wasn’t home. The mugging was two guys. One was in front of me keeping me from moving. The other stole my friend’s purse that was near the doors of the hotel. She had left her purse with her luggage while she walked away to check on something. I was about 8 feet from her belongings. My purse was on me, and they didn’t take it.

I had GPS stolen out of my car once. It was my fault for leaving the car door unlocked. Other than that, knock on wood, no.

When I was 20 and in a bus station in Chicago a young kid pulled a knife and took the wallet I had in my hands, grabbed the cash and threw the wallet down.
I had my bike stolen when I was 19. It was locked up on a screened in porch.
My room mate stole some of my vintage jewellery as I was moving out and I didn’t discover it missing until after my move.
