sometime in mid to late january. it’s a big pain in the ass, packing up all the ornaments and bringing them to the basement.

Seems to be around January 1st most years. It’s up for almost the whole month of December, but by New Years, it’s time to take it down.

I will take mine down on Sunday as it will have served its purpose…

In late January, sometimes early February. My family and I like to have it around for Chinese New Year’s. My s/o is Chinese, and I’m half Japanese, so it means more to her (and the children) than to me. Sigh. Lol.

My comes down on January 24th. I was a week late with my first child and we kept the tree up that year because I wanted it up when I brought him home. The tradition has stuck so we take it down the day after his birthday. Problem is, child #2 would like me to also keep the tree up for her. Her birthday is at the end of March. Not going to happen.

January 1. I Just put it up this weekend, and I take it down New Year’s day.

We take ours down New Years Eve and New Years Day. I used to leave everything up for Russian Christmas, but I stopped for some reason. It will have been up for 6 weeks. That’s enough for me.

Usually right after New Year’s Day.

I generally take mine down January 2nd or there abouts. One year I “inherited” an 8ft. tall, huge tree. It was hard putting it up and pitting lights on it, etc. I just couldn’t bring myself to mess with it. It stood in the corner of the front living room until one day in mid March when I took the decorations off of it, grabbed it as best I could and yelled for my husband to open the door. We hauled it out and threw it in his truck and he took it to the dump. The next year I bought a skinny, prelit, 6ft. tree. I love it!

Our trees run from the day after Thanksgiving to the day after New Year’s.

Last January. I didn’t put one up this year. No point in it.

When my wife tells me to.

January 6th. It’s always been the traditional date (Twelfth Night after Christmas). It’s considered unlucky to leave it up longer.

@downtide: That explains why my life sucks.
(Note to self: STOP putting off taking down the Christmas tree.)

About a week after Christmas.

Since there are twelve days of Christmas, we never take our tree down until after Epiphany (Jan 6). Centuries ago, Candlemas (Feb 2, or today’s Groundhog Day) used to mark the official end of the season, but that date’s too far off for keeping a natural tree.
