Help converting .Wma to .Mp3 on PC?

Asked by YoKoolAid (2424points) May 10th, 2011

Anyone know of a good file converter? I searched for it and found a lot of freeware, but unsure of what’s good/safe.

iTunes will automatically convert WMAs to whatever your current Import setting is.

1)
Change the import format to MP3 (or AAC or whatever you want for a destination file)
Choose Edit -> Preferences -> General – > Import Settings

2)
Pick the WMA file
Choose File->Add File to Library…

VLC Media Player is another good program, but I think it’s overly complicated for a simple conversion, so I use iTunes.

I’ve been using the audio edition of MediaCoder for two years now and never had a problem. For freeware it’s a pretty powerful little program. I highly recommend it.

I’ve been using Free Audio Pack for years, love it, never had an issue. Well, I’ve been using the Free WMA MP3 Converter that comes in it, which does way more than just mp3s and wmas.

Real player Converter does a good job for free

Sometimes I use MediaCoder myself, sometimes I use SUPER

Which one I use is random; they both get things done and can do even more than a simple WMA—>MP3 transcoding.

Prism converter is free and it converts all sorts of files.

I’ll second @MyNewtBoobs with Free Audio Pack. It is far faster than any other converter I’ve come across, has a good range of options, and is easy to use. It is also totally free.
