Those are five things I love. I don’t hate any food except chick peas.

gailcalled's avatar

Liver, oysters, clams and lima beans.

Brian1946's avatar

I don’t like mushrooms or mollusks.

WestRiverrat's avatar

Squash, unless it is baked in a pie.
Asparagus, probably because I always had to pick it.

Coloma's avatar

Creamed corn who the hell LIKES that nasty slop?

Giblet gravy

All organ meats blech

Pate —-evil—

Veal

Pickled beets gag

Head cheese & any disgusting lunch meats like Bologna

Iced tea

RHUBARB PIE! Ugh!

I do, however LOVE brussels sprouts. haha

mangeons's avatar

I’m the same way, I hate tomato chunks but I love ketchup and tomato sauce! I also hate pretty much all orange citrus (oranges, tangerines, clementines, mandarins, etc), pineapples, Greek yogurt, olives, iced tea, goat cheese, and banana peppers. I’m sure there are more, as I’m a fairly picky eater (though not nearly as bad as I used to be). Mushrooms are one of my favorite foods though, I can’t believe so many people hate them!

@WestRiverrat Even butternut squash?!

Coloma's avatar

Oh, and fruitcake!

AshlynM's avatar

Raw mushrooms (they must be cooked in order for me to eat them)
Coconut
Lima beans

josie's avatar

I don’t hate anything.
But I don’t eat bacon or fried cheese.
You have to draw a line somewhere.

CWOTUS's avatar

Most orange vegetables: squash of all kinds, sweet potatoes, and I’m not overly fond of cooked carrots.

mangeons's avatar

@CWOTUS I have the exact opposite problem, I think all orange/red vegetables are delicious (red peppers, carrots, sweet potatoes, butternut squash) but I’ve had to cut myself off from most of them (particularly carrots and red peppers) because I ate so much of them that I literally began turning orange! I wish I was kidding.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@mangeons Any pics? I had amoxiocillin a while ago and turned my body completely dark purple from the neck down. I mean everything.

Crumpet's avatar

Oh, grapefruit is quite disgusting too.

mangeons's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Haha, no. It was mostly just on my palms and the soles of my feet, and parts of my face were beginning to turn slightly orange too by the time I realized what was happening. I didn’t think that kind of thing actually happened to people! I immediately cut back on my intake of beta carotene and it’s mostly gone by now.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@mangeons Just be a little careful with beta carotene. It’s not water soluble if I recall. You can OD on it.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Brussels sprouts, lima beans, cauliflower, asparagus, oysters, sushi.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate Sushi might be suspect. “I don’t eat bait”. Ed Crankshaft.

Mushrooms

Asparagus
Cucumber
Squash
Mustard
Pickles
Brussel sprouts
Onion
Collard greens
Oysters
Sushi

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@livelaughlove21 How many of those vegtables have you had fresh out of the garden? Have you ever picked peas off the vine and eaten them immediately?

livelaughlove21's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe None. Unless that alters the flavor entirely, I doubt my opinion would change.

rojo's avatar

Lobster.

Crumpet's avatar

A few people seem to not like sushi.
I’ve only tried it once, and whilst i didn’t dislike it, i can’t understand why it is so popular all of a sudden.
I found it tasted of nothingness with a hint of fish.
Maybe i had bad sushi though, who knows…

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@livelaughlove21 Try them right out of the garden. I love peas right off the vine. My dogs did too. They would munch the pods til they got them open. Everything is so much better that way.
Edit: Not after it’s been munched by a dog, but fresh out of the garden.

JLeslie's avatar

Fresh tomatoes
Blueberries
Whipped cream
Cheese cake
Cream cheese (I can tolerate cream cheese icing)
Liver
Sweet potatoes
Most squash (I live zuchini)
Diet drinks (is that considered a food for this Q?)
Cream dressings
Thai curry (I love Chinese curry)
Calamari

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Jeez, you guys are particular. I might even eat peas munched by a dog. :)

mangeons's avatar

I love sushi, but not the kind with raw fish in it! I frequently pick up some vegetable sushi made with brown rice at the grocery store, and it’s the most delicious thing ever! I also like vegetable sushi from actual sushi places, but the kind at my grocery store has weirdly been my favorite! I also like the kind with smoked salmon and cream cheese, but not as much. I love the main concept of sushi, just not so much the raw fish part!

zenvelo's avatar

livers and kidneys. And i won’t tr heart, so don’t offer it to me.

Coloma's avatar

Add Oysters, clams, squid and other slimey fishy things to my list too.

Sauerkraut

Pickled anything

bookish1's avatar

Wow @mangeons, all of the things you listed I consider staples. It’s ok, more pineapples in the world for me ;)

I haven’t eaten meat more than half my life, but I can’t say I hate it. Some kinds still smell great to me. But I can’t stand the smell of fish, and while I appreciate the ethos of eating as much of the animal as possible, I’d rather not be conscious of the existence of organ meat and things to do with pig intestines, etc.

Hmmm…. I could live without the starchy squashes, eggplant, and deviled eggs. But I don’t bear them no ill will.

Ooh, I’ve got one! Fake Indian food, little better than slop, served to unknowing gringos.
I hate that.

@Crumpet: In my understanding, the Japanese food aesthetic is that things should be very subtle. Strong flavors are for children! So perhaps your sushi was top notch ;)

rojo's avatar

Also, raw oysters, any kind of greens (collard, mustard, etc) eggplant, liver, steak and kidney pie, McDonalds anything except coffee, And, boogers.

Bellatrix's avatar

Oysters. Ugh!

Supacase's avatar

Mustard
Turnips
Parsnips
Mussels

Berserker's avatar

Eh, I eat everything. I’m like a human garbage disposal. I even eat stuff that really isn’t fresh anymore, and I’ve eaten things off the ground. I don’t even care.

But that doesn’t mean I LIKE everything. Blood pudding, rhubarb, licorice and liver is pretty ass. I’ll still eat it though, I mean if there’s nothing else. Except maybe licorice. I’d rather eat old, dried up wall paint. and I HAVE

And raw oyster ROCKS, mofos.

rojo's avatar

Licorice beats oysters like a bastard stepchild! And Rhubarb MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Berserker's avatar

Fuck licorice. I’d rather eat cadaver ass.

rojo's avatar

That’s only served in those snooty restaurants that have real cloth napkins right?

Berserker's avatar

Nah. You just dig em up anshit.

ragingloli's avatar

Bacon.
I am a cabbage
Son of a bitch bacon.
Bacon is pig.
Do you want a piece of fat?
Do you want to drink liquid grease?
Bacon is pig disgusting.
George Walker Bush is a murderer.
Fucking bacon.

ucme's avatar

Onions & prunes…blech!

Seek's avatar

Most of my issues with various foods are texture-based.

I’m not fond of pig-meat, including bacon, though I do like the smell of bacon. It’s a mouthful of fat and rocks that I don’t like.

Applesauce. Like eating wet sand.
Same with hominy grits. Yuck.

Peanut butter. Really, peanuts in general. There are a few exceptions – I like a spoonful of peanut butter with chocolate ice cream, for example. Not so much peanut sauce on my noodles. That’s gross.

Organ meats. I know what those livers and kidneys are doing whilst not being paired with caramelized onions, and I want no part of it.

Oh, and mayonnaise? Eff you.

OpryLeigh's avatar

Liver and Kidney

I agree with @mangeons about mushrooms, I love them. I am always surprised bu how many people hate them.

Berserker's avatar

@Leanne1986 I didn’t know you could eat kidney…from what?

Kardamom's avatar

Eggplant and okra, although I have found one preparation for both of these icky items that I actually liked. The eggplant was in an Indian curry dish called bharta and the okra dish was flash fried (so it wasn’t slimy) and it was dusted in teff flour (at an African restaurant).

It’s funny, all of the vegetable items that everybody else listed, are what I live on. I have a particular fondness for sauerkraut.

When I was a little kid, I hated most of these things, but when I grew up and knew that I was going to be a vegetarian, I learned to not only like, but love most of these things. I read somewhere that it often takes 10 to 20 tries at tasting something to acquire a taste for new items. I was lucky, I found people who knew how to cook really well and the formerly yucky items took on a new life for me.

When I was a young’un I ate hardly any meat, and virtually no seafood (save for tuna fish sandwiches) so it was an easy transition to becoming a vegetarian. At the time, I was unfamiliar with a lot of vegetables, but I quickly changed that fact and it opened up a whole new world for me.

I remember tasting brussels sprouts for the first time at a Christmas party and thinking they might just be the best vegetable in the whole world. It was similar to This Recipe only without the bacon.

rojo's avatar

@Kardamom I agree, fried okra is ok (try cornmeal) but boiled…....... Its’ like eating snot!

JLeslie's avatar

Okra is gross.

Seek's avatar

Huh. Do you guys just not eat Gumbo? What is gumbo without okra?

CWOTUS's avatar

Gumbo without okra is a contradiction in terms. I forget which African language it is, but gumbo is the word that means okra.

mangeons's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr I agree 100% about mayo, I will not eat anything with mayo on it. I just think everything about it is disgusting!

OpryLeigh's avatar

@Symbeline I don’t actually know but Steak and Kidney pie is quite popular over here. It’s disgusting in my opinion!

ucme's avatar

Steak & kidney pie/pudding…bloody delicious!

OpryLeigh's avatar

@ucme No. Just no.

ucme's avatar

@Leanne1986 Given the current climate, maye that should be… Neigh. Just neigh.

VS's avatar

Collards. I am a true Southern girl, so I don’t know how this happened, but I hate collards. I really hate to smell them cooking, like a big ol’ day-old fart.
Coconut. I’m allergic to coconut. Only thing on the planet that I am allergic to, but ‘s OK because I don’t like coconut anyway. I do like the smell of coconut in things like suntan lotion.
