What's the deal with these facial-skin tightening substances? They seem like gelatin or eggwhite. Are they safe?

Can I give brand names here? You see this stuff all over the internet. Like those “funny old secret to removing belly fat” ads.
They’re very very tiny bottles of liquid that cost a lot, and they don’t burn your skin, and they do seem to tighten it up a little bit. You subscribe; they keep replacing them till you tell them to quit, and bill your credit card. What IS that stuff?

They work fine.

But hemorrhoid cream is cheaper.

A lot of my Asian friends use whipped egg-whites, it works.

Use a homemade face mask to do what you need done. Just google it. For example, “homemade face mask dry skin” “homemade face mask brown spots” “homemade face mask acne”....please. you will save so much money and your skin will thank you.
