Is it possible to have soft human tissue freeze dried and bronzed?

Asked by gondwanalon (22885points) July 13th, 2013

In the movie “Ted” a guy was showing off his wealth and power to another guy by pointing to a small round bronze figure and stated, “That is Lance Armstrong’s nut, freeze dried and bronzed”.

I wonder if that really can be done?

Last Tuesday (7~9~13) I had Minimaze surgical procedure which includes removing my heart’s “left atrial appendage”. When I was recovering in ICU my cardiologist visited me and gave me my left atrial appendage in a jar of formalin. I did not ask for nor expect to get it. But it is pretty cool looking. It’s bigger than I thought and about the size of two human testicles.

I’m still in the hospital and may be discharged tomorrow (7~14~13). Also I’m so bored and drugged and wondering:

So can it be done? Do you know of a company that can freeze dry and bronze my heart’s left atrial appendage?

I have no clue, but wanted to send you speedy-recovery thoughts. And if you do get that thing bronzed, we will want pictures! :)

I have no idea either. But I do know one thing – it’s clear your humor gland is not attached to the left atrial appendage. Congratulations on the swift recovery.

As soon as they let me out of the hospital I’ll put a picture of my heart’s left atrial appendage on Flickr. They damage my right lung during the Minimaze procedure and I’ll likely be here a few more days.

Ouch! You are still speaking to your doc… and staying there… that is pretty magnanimous of you…
The doc is supposed to present someone else’s heart on a platter, after the lung bit I might have considered asking for the surgeon’s.

No idea on the freeze drying and bronzing thing… But I had a cousin try multiple dipping in shellac… It was not an effective method.
