Before watching the video, I thought it would be baseless criticism of Ms. Obama. Now, however, I have mixed feelings.

Sure, drinking water is great. Drink more, if you want. But to pour money into a “public health” initiative that is not founded in science and is not clearly important and necessary is questionable. I would have reacted more positively to a message of, “drink water when you are thirsty”, or “replace one juice or soda drink a day with a glass of water”.

The initiative is probably a waste of money. But not harmful.

I don’t see any rant there. I don’t doubt that there will be people ranting against her (because there always will be about anything), but I don’t see it there (also, I don’t see any video there. Is my browser just being odd?). Saying “um, actually, that’s not based on good science” isn’t a rant, and it does seem to follow from what I know about dietary science and water consumption. Which is not high, to be fair, but in general I’ve heard that we generally get an okay amount of water, and the much-touted ‘eight glasses of water’ standard thrown around sometimes fails to take into account that that’s total daily water consumption, which includes water from other drinks and food, and even that is probably too high. Considering she’s has done a lot of good and has generally stuck to good science in her work in this area, it’s perfectly fair to point out when she may be off base.

Since when do people need a good reason to bitch about the Obamas?

I do not think that there wouldbe much of a rant. In fact I think that it is a very good idea that she is promoting to drink more water because it will benefit us more.

Ignorant, we all know we need water instead of cola’s, but as @Cupcake says, let’s not POUR money into it.

I would be interested to see the money trail. If Partnership for a Healthy America (partnership with whom? for starters) is going to “place promotional labels” on nearly a half-billion bottles of (disposable, sold at retail) bottles of water, then it’s not an insignificant thing.

Who is selling the labels? Who owns the logo? What kinds of political donations have the water bottlers made? Who are the lobbyists involved?

Cui bono? Who benefits?

That it isn’t a rant.

I was mistaken to use the word “rant.” I should have used the words “latest criticism.”

As much as I can’t stand the Obama’s in any capacity…. It’s probably not a bad idea. Especially if she mentioned to drink less soda and replace sugar drinks with water. I mean, it can’t hurt…

Plain old water, instead of sodas is a good ideas. It takes a while to get used to if your many fluid intake is sodas, bu look what @1TubeGuru said. Obesity is a major problem in our country. This is one step to help change the situation. Mrs. Obama is right. People don’t like to be criticized and will complain if they feel they are being controlled.
