Do you notice this about the lurve scores on old Fluther questions?

Asked by Mimishu1995 (23628points) June 8th, 2014

I notice that on Fluther, old-time questions often have more lurves than current questions?

There are old-time questions with more than 100 lurves. We don’t see that in current questions. So far the greatest questions only have around 30 lurves.

Why so? Is it because there were more jellies than now? Or because jellies were easier to lurve back then? Or something else?

100? I’ve never seen that! But the lurve has gone down dramatically because there are significantly less people. It was so much easier to get lurve from 2008–2010, Fluther’s heyday. That’s also why you see so many people from that time with over 10,000 lurve.

I think Fluther allowed a “culture war” (mainly over politics and anti religious trolls) to rage for way too long and it turned a lot of people off. I left for a while… I come and go. I see many things.

If questions have been around for longer then obviously they have had more time to accumulate lurve from more generations of Fluther users.

@DWW25921 I don’t know that it was so much trolling as the fact that quite a few on both sides couldn’t disagree in a civilized manner, and many (including bystanders) got sick of the conflict.

I did notice that. As far as the older the posts are the more they have time to accumulate I’m not sure if I agree.

Want to see a ton of lurve given wait until Andrew and Ben post. Doesn’t matter what. They are just lurved!
I’ve been here at least two years and only in a blue moon will someone lurve an old post of mine.

Seems like the nature of fluther has changed quite a bit. Been through many revolutions of the types of people questions and the nature of relationships.

There were once more active participants.

@jerv Maybe “troll” wasn’t the best word than but “culture war” certainly is…

The ugly truth no one wants to talk about is that most people are just stingy with lurve around here, and reserve it for those they like or who agree with them haha. LARVAE FOR ALL!! :D

I have given lurve to some that if the names were known people would have a heart attack. If people whom I disagreed on in a thread made a good point in another thread I seen, I lurve, however, it has to be a very good point seeing I can only give 100 lifetime lurve to anyone. I don’t want to shoot all of the bullets too soon, I may be crazy enough to stay around another 5 years.

I generally give it freely to everyone who answers anything in one of my questions. (Don’t bother now, I never check my old questions…)

Because today’s questions are crap, and today’s readers are impatient and unforgiving.

DWW25921's avatar

Well @zenzen maybe you should ask something inspiring and thought provoking? As long as it’s not political or religious or otherwise remotely offensive in any way… (sigh)

I’ve asked about 2000. I’m fresh out.

Yuppers… I tried to ask 3 yesterday… One of them was moderated.
