Fluff time; which is the better situation, to have an “anchor baby” or a trophy wife?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) August 23rd, 2015

I guess depending on your situation one of the other could be better, but in general, which is the better situation to have or acquire?

What’s an “anchor baby”?

Anchor baby will probably end up paying taxes.

And I assume this is about Trump and his love of importing wifes from Eastern Europe.

@cookieman What’s an “anchor baby”?
As best I can fashion it is it is a baby born here to illegal immigrants to loophole deportation, as it puts the law at odds with itself; the child which will be a US citizen is still a minor and in the custody of the parents, so deporting the parents is de facto kicking an innocent, and might we say adorable and defenseless, US citizen out of the country without due process. So the baby is like an anchor holding the parents fast to Lady Liberty, and keeping Uncle Sam from washing them out to see back from which they came.

@johnpowell And I assume this is about Trump and his love of importing wifes from Eastern Europe.
He popped into mind and out, but he is hardly the only one who has gotten himself a trophy wife, and not all come from Eastern Europe also.

Can my trophy wife be Alan Rickman?

I would think if you “have” an anchor baby, you’re looking for citizenship in the US.

I would think if you “have” a trophy wife, you’re a rich man who can afford a wife who has all the attributes of a trophy (attributes of a trophy may vary from individual to individual, but I am guessing for most, a trophy wife would be beautiful and full of jewelry and things that the husband purchases).

I would think a man is in a better position if he has a trophy wife than if he has an anchor baby. Just a guess, just an assumption.

Not all so-called “anchor babies” are conceived and born with the intention of gaining citizenship for the parent(s). However, most trophy wives are just that.

@Hypocrisy_Central … the child which will be a US citizen…

The child IS a U.S. citizen.

If one characterizes a spouse as a Trophy, one has a pretty shallow marriage, and it would be a tiresome relationship that would not bring one any joy. People who place importance on how others view their relationship cannot be happy. No thank you to the trophy hunters, they will die frustrated and lonely.

@Yetanotheruser However, most trophy wives are just that.
I think that would be factored on what nation the trophy wife was in or thinking of going to. Here in the US, the trophy wife already has citizenship; she is just gaining present bling, with the hopes of getting the head, the tail, and everything in the middle when the old guy dies.

@zenvelo The child IS a U.S. citizen.
I was going off the Constitution that he/she is not a citizen until actually born.

No thank you to the trophy hunters, they will die frustrated and lonely.
But their widows will be ecstatic and happier than a flock of larks.

Trophy wife. You can’t get any fringed benefit from an anchor baby.

A baby trophy. Who needs those huge ones that take up all the space on your dresser?
