Shall we play a new game, called, Fluther Scavenger Hunt?

Asked by Here2_4 (7152points) November 3rd, 2015

Between trick or treaters on Halloween, I thought back to Halloweens past. I thought of years when my kids were little. I thought of when I was little.
One of the things which popped into mind was scavenger hunts.
Yesterday it came to me that we could have scavenger hunts on Fluther.
Here are the rules:
I will provide a list of items to be found within Fluther. It might be something within a thread, or from a profile page. Links will be provided when necessary.
From the clues provided, find the answers, and be the first one back with ALL the correct answers sought. Sometimes, there may be more than one correct answer. In that case, only one needs to be provided. In order to avoid confusion or dispute, it would be best to provide links to where the answers were found.

Eventually, as Fluther clues become exhausted, and members become familiar with how the game is played, we might venture beyond Fluther to current events, or other areas. If that happens, the asker should specify a topic, such as; advertising, or history, or current events.

When the first correct win has been identified, that member shall post the next set of clues. HINT It would be easiest if you have some clues prepared before solving the list, so others don’t have to wait too long for the next list. Only the member acknowledged by the clue provider as winner is eligible to make the next list. Players should not assume they have won, just because they respond first and feel confident.
Players should be prepared to wait a while for results, and next stage. This is not a fast moving game, but should be entertaining, nostalgic, and adventurous.
Even if you don’t feel up to playing now, follow the question, since you may want to jump in later.
I think we can have some fun. We might learn a thing or two.

Here are the first clues…
How many preferred pancakes, how many preferred popcorn? LINK
On the first question ever asked on Fluther, regarding table seasonings, who commented that @TitsMcGhee was the first person they ever followed?
My avatar is a picture of whom?
Good luck!

If anyone has questions, PM me, and I will help with anything unclear.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Can we guess? Because, like for the salt and pepper question First two are guesses. (Suggestion for the future…number the clues?)
1. All of them
2. Andrew
3. Sally Rand (I looked that one up.)

Here2_4's avatar

I would advise against guessing. The point of scavenger hunts is to visit a variety of places, see stuff, and gather the things on the list. Players will HAVE to hunt for the items, gather them, and return. I will say this, there is no need to leave Fluther for any of the items on my list.
No, you have not won. I will not say how many you have correct at this time, let’s not give that much hint so quick.
Also, shall we keep future lists limited to 3 – 5 items, please. (I forgot to mention that in the rules.

1. Out of 168 answers, only 37 people actually committed to one over the other. I didn’t count the many repeats. Almost everybody said in one way or the other that they liked pancakes, but only 32 actually picked pancakes over popcorn. Everyone liked orgasms. Five people picked popcorn. One wanted to make popcorn pancakes, but this was voted down by declamation. Something about farting up a good thing. Overall, it was pretty confusing.

Popcorn 5, Pancakes 32.

2. Dr_C

3. The late, great Nazimova.

Seek's avatar

@Espiritus_Corvus #2 doesn’t surprise me at all. Creeper.

Here2_4's avatar

Nice win, @Espiritus_Corvus , will you now challenge us with a worthy task?

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

I have to pass. I’m beat. See you tomorrow afternoon.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

1. Name two Flutherites who live in the Antipodes.

2. Who asked the famous CIA question?

3. Whose avatar had the map of the world tattooed on their ass? (Any of their incarnations will do.)

4. What TOPIC was listed under the now famous hit-and-run question that generated 472 responses, 267 GA’s, but only 128 lurve points to the OP, and became so famous for its poor spelling, bad grammar, non-existent punctuation and indecipherability that it generated an award that most Flutherites can only aspire to?

5. Who is the undisputed Grande Dame of Fluther and how many lurve points did she accrue?

Bonus Question: What gender is Ragingloli? (You must explain rationale as to how you arrived at your answer).

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

Clarification:

2. Who asked the famous CIA question that generated 1,140 answers and 114 GA’s for the OP?

Dutchess_III's avatar

1. Dang. I had to go find “antipode.” From the discription is has to be our Australian Jellies. Um, Trails Illustrated and….?

2. Asked by segdeha. January 10th, 2008. And 1139 answers got modded off! LOLL! What were you people doing?

3. Dalloon.

4. Casey Anthony

5. Gail Called. As of this writing she has 54,280 lurve.

Hey..can we ask questions to help us in our search?

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

C’mon. One other Antipodean and you have it. There are at least five here. Hint: One lives in the foothills of Auckland and moves at a slow tempo. Another’s earthly bindings evidently don’t fit well.

Care to make a guess on the rager’s gender?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Ragingloli is…male. His tone, his presentation, all give me the impression of being male. The Loli in his name throws me, though. Sometimes he throws me. But not far since he’s just an anime.

Here2_4's avatar

I know the answer on the gender question. More than one person uses the same account. That is why sometimes they introduce themselves as male, sometimes female. Since the aforementioned has also claimed to be a demon, I have been sometimes addressing them as Legion.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh. That would explain a lot @Here2_4. In fact, I shall be able to rest tonight since the first time I met himher on Wis.dm.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I am searching for Australians…..

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, there is Shrubbery, although that name doesn’t fit either of the hints.

So, final answers to the questions:

1. Name two Flutherites who live in the Antipodes.
Trails Illustrated and Shrubbery.

2. Who asked the famous CIA question?
Asked by segdeha. January 10th, 2008. And 1139 answers got modded off! LOLL! What were you people doing?

3. Whose avatar had the map of the world tattooed on their ass? (Any of their incarnations will do.)
Dalloon. He was the first person I ever met on Fluther

Casey Anthony

5. Who is the undisputed Grande Dame of Fluther and how many lurve points did she accrue?
Gail Called. As of this writing she has 54,280 lurve.

Bonus Question: What gender is Ragingloli? (You must explain rationale as to how you arrived at your answer).
Both. I know because @Here2_4 just told me that there are multiple users that use Ragingloli’s account.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

Shrubbery for the WIN!!! Congradulations, Dutchess! The clues were for Adagio and Earthbound_Misfit.

Your turn to provide the clues.

Here2_4's avatar

Wow, @Dutchess_III , I am breathless, and I didn’t even answer the question. Are you okay after all that??!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yes I’m okay. But I’m not getting any work done on my shelves!

OK, here are my questions:

1. Which Jelly was shaken up for a few hours after committing murder by beheading? And did the Jelly murder a male or a female? About the murder the Jelly said, ”I now have the worst damn headache ever, I can’t stop shaking, and my patio looks like the aftermath of a mob hit.”

2. Which Jelly received 208 GQ’s for proposing marriage via a Fluther question?

3. What are two words that can never be used in the same sentence, lest one be beaten severely about the head and shoulders up for dissing poor, hungry people with no clothes?

4. The parents and grandparents of which Jelly probably went through hell on January 30, 1968?

5. What is the oldest orphan question, and who asked it?

Seek's avatar

I’m not sure whether I buy the explanation for @ragingloli. I’ve been told by them in no uncertain terms that they would never reveal their gender here.

Maybe they just don’t like me.

Dutchess_III's avatar

But it seems to make sense, @Seek, doesn’t it? If the account has multiple users, and both male and female, it fits.

longgone's avatar

1. WillWorkForChocolate

2. Gary – wtf

3. “pajamas” and either “convenience store” or “food stamps” – but either way, not sure ‘cause that would technically be three words.

4. Mimishu_1995?

5. This – smeyer.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Ding ding your turn, @longgone! Good job! Except there were also slippers involved in the 3rd question. Don’t forget the slippers!
Now I’m going to work on my selves.

Seek's avatar

I don’t expect Loli to “fit” anywhere. That is not who they are. They made their own hole for their own peg.

Dutchess_III's avatar

But the hole is square! And the peg is round. And it’s confusing.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Just to clarify- I murdered a snake, not a human, and I apologize for not checking the gender before the burial.

longgone's avatar

1. How many chat rooms does Fluther have?

2. What kind of tree does the three millionth quip mention?

3. At whose request did unfriendly people become excluded from anwering questions?

4. Whose jelly’s user name is liver, in German, with an added “b” – and spelled backwards?

5. Name five terms which deserve the heading “Fluther Lingo”.

Bonus points if you play a prank on either a specific jelly, or the collective – and then tell us about it. [Not a mean one.]

dxs's avatar

1. 10 Is there more?
2. cedar
3. Randi (someone give me a quip on this, I wasn’t here for it)
4. rebbel
5: (1) Jelly [as a demonym] (2) Bendrew (3) Frizzer (4) Auggie (5) TJBM

Someone continue for me, I have class now. I’ll put one up tomorrow!

@Bellatrix/@Earthboundmisfit is also Australian, right?

chyna's avatar

1. Three chat rooms

2. Cedar

3. Randy

4. Rebbel

5. A. Auggie B. Frizzer C. Pancakes D. Janets (author of Frizzer q.) E. Jellies

longgone's avatar

While chyna is “righter” than dxs, neither one has won yet.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

1. Fluther has three chat rooms

2. It mentions a cedar chest

3. Did that actually happen? As far as I know, despite any request, unfriendly people are allowed to answer.

4. Rebbel

5. a. Jellies b. Frizzer c. Lurve d. Perfecto Fish e. Tidepool

Brian1946's avatar

By my count, Fluther has 9 chatrooms: http://www.fluther.com/chat/9/

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

1. Nine
2. Cedar
3. Randy
4. Rebbel
5. Fluther, Flutherite, Tidepool, Bendrew, TJBM

longgone's avatar

^ We have a winner.

1. How many of the 1,140 responses to the CIA question were moderated?

3. What is the last post to the question that is listed as
—the first of 3 Great Questions on the profile page of

4. How do I get the Robot Crush Award? (PM me.)

Here2_4's avatar

1.) 1137
2.) eambos
3.) 404
Your last question is kind of borderline on the rules, as the questions are supposed to be answerable by any member, however new.
However, if you PM me , I would liketo know that one

1139 of the 1140 answers were modded.

I think that it’s OK to ask questions that need to be researched by newbies. Isn’t that kind of the point? I mean, I hadn’t heard of a CIA thread before today. I just know that people were walking around going [Redacted!] for the longest time. Now I know why and I MISSED IT!!

How about: Apocalypse Then.

Here2_4's avatar

1.) Who has a strange man on their sofa and can’t get rid of him?
2.) Who asked the question about sneaking in butt sniffs?
3.) Who is going to Hell for stealing beer?
4.) Name the brand of stolen beer.

chyna's avatar

I love this question. It’s bringing back a lot of memories.

Dutchess_III's avatar

The guy who kept sending some one cake every month for no apparent reason! LOL!

It’s gonna take some doing to track those down!

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

Oh, man. I remember some of these, but I can’t figure out where to look to find them. I’m beginning to realize this is a group effort like my cheap win above. OK:

1. I remember that nearly causing a 911 panic for a few hours. I think it was nebule.
2, Glad I missed that one.
3. Beer? johnsblond? Could be half the people here. Missed that one too.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Who was almost turned into a vampire after he was bitten by a bat?

Here2_4's avatar

Nice try. No One hint, The hell – bound beer thief still walks among us with regularity.

dxs's avatar

For all of you who think there’s only 9 chatrooms:

Dutchess_III's avatar

Your link only shows 7, @dxs.

@Dutchess_III Adirondackwannabe?

Here2_4's avatar

Please resist the urge for side chatter, as it makes it difficult to find which is the current list of active items.
I will provide a link which will assist in answering my current list.
http://www.fluther.com/users/filmfann/
This is a link to someone who answered at least one of the questions involved in my list.
I anticipated that this game would not move along rapidly. That is the whole point. It will take everyone in directions they have not been in a while, or even at all.
Also, the butt sniff question included a link to a video which is still accessible.

dammitjanetfromvegas's avatar

fyi, please don’t confuse troll Randy for the original Randy

augustlan's avatar

Love this Q.

Here2_4's avatar

New assistance. This member has viewed the unusual video clip
http://www.fluther.com/users/chyna/
Dig deep. It goes back so far, I could find only two currently active persons involved with the butt sniff thread.
The beer thief , as I said, is a currently active member, is also found fairly often in the chat room.
The sofa sitter is well remembered by some currently active members.
Welcome to the fun, @augustlan , I see by your profile, you may have such a rich history here, these lists may be a cinch for you sometimes.
If anyone is feeling they are close to solving my list of four, PM me, and I may give a further nudge. If anyone does solve, please leave links to each thread, so others can enjoy the nostalgia.

augustlan's avatar

I know who the beer thief is, and the brand. I know the couch sitter. I have no recollection of butt sniffing, thank goodness!

augustlan's avatar

@johnpowell stole a PBR from his sister. @nebule (but maybe under an earlier username?) had a man on her couch who wouldn’t leave; we were following along and then she fell asleep leaving us all thinking she’d been murdered!

longgone's avatar

1) nebule
2) johnpowell
3) PBR
4) Ansible1

Of course, I did not look at @augustlan‘s hints.

Dutchess_III's avatar

That is hilarious, @chyna! I missed that one too. :(

@longgone Now you have to come up with 3 to 5 clues.

Here2_4's avatar

@longgone, very good! All are correct. You much have done some serious diving for those.

longgone's avatar

1) Once upon a time, one of our own was officially granted permission to use txtspeak. How many consonants can you find in her name?

2) What is 10! divided by (3! x 7!)? For @dxs, to make up for the chatroom thing. Looks like there are ten, after all.

3) Where does Esedess advise jellies to “Find two doors next to each other that lead to the same place”, and what’s the point of this suggestion?

augustlan's avatar

1) Jeruba has three consonants in her name.

longgone's avatar

Some hints for the maths question:

1) You can find the answer on Fluther.
2) The thread it is in is about a week old.
3) The OP of that thread is my favourite person in the whole world, though she can be annoying. I live with her.

longgone's avatar

^ No. The answer is in the details, so when you’ve found it, you’ll know right away. You’re a little too far back, but close!

dxs's avatar

Whoops I totally posted a response to this a week ago. It must not have uploaded. I’m on my phone now so it’ll be difficult. As I said then and ill say now, I’m not doing your math homework!

longgone's avatar

^ Damn it.

dxs's avatar

But you know I’d love to.

Brian1946's avatar

IIRC, the answer to #2 is 120.

Also, I just did the math, and the answer is 120.

Stinley's avatar

1 Jeruba
2 120
3 the airport, to pass the time

I stole the first two from above

longgone's avatar

@Stinley

Almost. I can’t quite let this count… Re-read the first question, and we will have a winner.

dxs's avatar

1) 3
2) 120
3) To pass the time, I guess…

New one:
1) In PST/PDT, when was the Fluther conference held in the chatrooms?
2–3) We’ve mourned the loss of Gailcalled recently. Who are two other Jellies have we mourned the loss of here on Fluther?
4) Which former Fluther mod owns a Puli? (hint: This mod was asked this along with a series of other questions)

Stinley's avatar

1. I don’t know how to find this out. I went to the chat room but couldn’t go back up the conversation :-(
2. @Adironwakwanabe
3. @Unbroken
I miss them both
4. @Katawagray

dxs's avatar

^^I didn’t see that thread until you posted it. How sad.
